Eh....do you mean the M739?

I don't think there IS an M398, unless you're looking at Halo Fanon; in that case, it's the long barreled version of the DMR, entitled the EVR.

It's not manly enough for a Spartan to use, therefore it's not available.

Besides, it was an ODST weapon. Not that the Chief would complain, but I think he'd prefer something that would actually penetrate an Elite's shields within a single clip. Like that new ARC-920. Accelerating a 25 gram slug to about 5 kilometers per second.....

Packs quite a punch.

I still remember the badass motherf*****s that were the marines of Halo CE. They could fight like mad and kill dozens of covenant soldiers before they went down. Sons, i am proud. Shame only a handful of marines escaped halo in the book.

Yeah but if a dozen or so redshirt marines made it out, i would have been even more happy, cuz they did kick ass. One time i saw a single marine take on two hunters, killed one before the other hit him into a wall.

Of course its a game, but still, overall the marines out of CE were the best imo. then probably the army troopers in reach because they looked cool with the armour.

Edit: speaking of marines, has anyone seen any pics of the marines in Halo4?

The picture with John running down a corridor with troops, the one on the right may be a Marine.

Here's a good one. I couldn't find any with only the marine in it, though.

And then this image popped up as well. I believe that he's voicing one of the Marines. Here's the website explaining it.

Conan O brien as a marine, sweet.

The one on the right is definitely a marine. Whether it's an ODST or not, I'm not sure.

If they are odsts im annoyed, the other ones were cooler looking, still a good design but still preferred the other ones.

Most likely because there is no way the UNSC can be called anything but modern in some aspects.

7.62 NATO rifles? 7.62 NATO cased rifles?

Anyway, it's a good design, so at least it's not like they're using a bad modern thing.

Yeah. For some reason, all FT fighting games must have armor plate on infantry.

Halo itself incorporates elements of FT as well as PMT. The weapons technology is PMT, as well as the standard defensive equipment. The MJORLNIR suits are a bit of a stretch, but the early models could be considered PMT as well. They lacked energy shielding, after all.

The starships are FT, for sure, but the surface equipment may very well reside within PMT.

Considering RL MT uses armored plates, it's not much of a surprise that Halo uses them as well. Besides, when technology fails, it's better to have a solid wall between you and incoming ordnance.
