Iroh is, and forever will be, my favorite character from the Avatar series. He was truly an enjoyable character to watch. His storyline with Zuko was probably what made me continue watching Avatar in the first place.

A combination of him and Sokka for me.

Iroh provided a nice vein of comedy, combined with being a hardcore mother fucker, too.

The crash-and-burn of Azula was pretty interesting. Rarely does a cartoon end with a character being so mental that they need a padded cell for the rest of their life.

It's a FICTIONAL story. And in the first show it was highly emphasized that technology was growing rapidly.

The Fire Nation was in a second industrial revolution, by the looks of it. Also, 70 years is plenty of time. That is a human lifetime. Do you know how much changes in a human lifetime, especially nowadays?

Mako is Jet and Zuko's lovechild. It is now thread canon.

Does it make me less of a man that I cried when Zuko apologized to Iroh when they met after Zuko joined Team Avatar?

It does not. That was one of the best scenes in the entire series, and the build up to it was fantastic.

Eh, I'd hesitate to say that they were in a similar technology phase to the Second Industrial Revolution, but a lot of the parallels fall down. No other nation had the tech which matched the Fire Nation, but the Fire Nation's tech seemed to only extend as far as steam-powered ships... which would have been incredibly less technologically advanced if they were fired by a firebender compared to a dude shovelling coal into an engine. A firebender means that they had control over the fire, but a coal-fired engine means that they were able to control the fire using technological means.

I'd like to know how the fire-bender tanks were driven in the original series. Considering the size, they almost could only be driven by an internal combustion engine.

It was one of the 3 cartoons (including anime) that has made me cry. There was no doubt that the show was deeper than most people would have thought from the first episode.

Actually, they did have the same tech. The Fire Nation cruisers are made out of steel which requires the Bessemer Process. The Bessemer Process came about in the second industrial revolution. Also, the Fire Nation has factories (as seen in the episode "The Painted Lady"). The Fire Nation also has cable cars (from the Boiling Rock) and freezers. This would mean that they have invented steam engines or electric motors. The freezers would mean that they have discovered how to make Freon and have extensive chemical manufacturing. Also remember that they had the giant drill in Ba Sing Se which required tons of fuel and maintenance from its engineers.

It's only a single series, compared to Avatar: the Last Airbender's three. And probably, if I dare say so in this thread, more worth your viewing.

Especially since Jet is supposed to be a homage to both Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.

As much as I know this next sentence will suck., I still think I should say it. In the opening, I don't like how they show Avatar Kyoshi earthbending, where its more like tiles, instead of huge giant holders or pillars of earth. It just seems so less majestic.
