Wait, of course Aang was a pacifist. That's one of his defining traits!

If you stretch the word pacifism enough, then yes. If you go what it typically means, opposing any war or violence, then no.

Kay guys, theory time:

Tenzin said that only the Avatar has been able to use energybending. What's the link between Amon and the Avatar? The Spirit World. The Avatar is considered to be the link between the Spirit World and the material world. What if Amon somehow is able to tap into the spirit world similarly to the Avatar? It's also important to note that you can't bend in the Spirit World. All of this leads me to believe that the spirit world is linked to energybending. Also if I'm not mistaken, the Lion Turtle said, "In the era before the Avatar, we bent not the elements, but the energy within ourselves." My question is who is "we"? Does he mean just the Lion Turtles, or every sentient being, including the Lion Turtles AND humans? This would of course imply that everyone thousands of years ago could energybend, but something happened where this simply wasn't possible anymore. My guess is that the link between the Spirit World and the physical world grew apart significantly, or humans simply lost the knowledge how to connect with the Spirit World.

Perhaps Amon is a being from the spirit world, maybe he's related to Koh?

I think Aang is a better bender than Korra.

I'll say this, while Korra may have mastered more elements in a quicker time than Aang, I do believe that Aang had a better handle on them. Sometimes it seems like Korra's just whipping shit around and she can be too blunt in her bending, but Aang always had a nice grip on the elements, with them being more spaced out in his use of them, and for that I think he was able to use them much more accurately and smoothly.

Guess it depends on how you would define a superior bender.

To me, it seems that Aang kept trying to perfect each element he learned. Even after Katara said he "mastered" it, they kept practicing, and Aang kept getting better. The same happened with Earthbending. Even after he was a "master" in the traditional sense, Toph said he needed more work, and he strived towards that. Heck, he even picked up on Toph's then unique technique of seeing the world with her feet. I think Korra just says, "Yep, mastered this one, moving on!" And yes, her bending is sloppy IMO and she just flails wildly. To be honest, Bolin and Mako seemed the same way during the new episode.

Hey, Mavorpen, would you mind updating the OP with links to trailers, sneak peaks and episodes as the show progresses?

Yeah, once the third episode is uploaded I'll put it in the OP. I'll also go ahead and get trailers for the third episode as well.

Also this is completely unrelated but is it just me or, at least when the opener was first released, did anyone think that the Pro-Bending Arena kind of looked like the Harmandir Sahib? I mean the first time I saw it in the opener, I kind of thought it looked like it, and before I knew it was the arena I thought it might actually have some spiritual significance.

It just looked a lot like it from afar at first, and even when they closed up on it a few times during episode two, I was under the impression that it resembled the Golden Temple somewhat.

Kind of made me wonder if they were at least slightly inspired by it when making the arena.

Yeah, when you compare the two, they look very much alike.

 Shit just got real, yo.

Soooo.... judging from the brief "next time" clip at the end of this episode, I'm thinking we're gonna be seeing Korra go all Avatar state next episode. Because it seems like this series isn't wasting any time getting into serious effing business with the whole Equalists thing.

I missed the episode this morning, and therefore am ignoring this thread until I actually see it. I'm looking forward to watching it, albeit I don't know how I can access the episode..

Yep. This episode was very intense, and it's easily topped the beginning of TLA.

I don't know. One where they have to get money for a tournament and then the one guy almost lost his superpowers.

Yeah, I guess the new one - i called them superpowers because that's basically what they are, just re-labeled as 'bending'.
