Well this was a good episode and I am enjoying Kuvira a lot myself though she is certainly going to be a villain due to foreshadowing and her strategy of realpolitik. She seems to be an Avatarverse version of Otto von Bismarck to be honest.

I'm a bit confused by her motives; is she reuniting the Earth Kingdom for the Prince, and perhaps planning to use him as a puppet? Or does she want to conquer the whole thing for herself and proclaim herself Earth Queen?

Well there are two characters that we could use for ideas, Chin the conqueror and Otto Von Bismarck. Both Chin and Kuvira are seen as conquerors but in different ways - Kuvira being seen as a unifier (like Otto Von Bismarck who unified Germany). The thing is though Kuvira is a ruthless character who wishes to achieve her goals at any cost. She is also very controlling which is suitable for the fact that she metal bends. Anyway for major spoilers look away - take a look at the location of Republic city and her map. She will try and take it and in the vain of the fall of Paris will happen.

It looks like Kuvira has most of the Earth Kingdom under her control, and Lin and Raiko said the Earth Kingdom was mostly under control and safe for Wu's coronation, so putting 2 and 2 together, it looks like Wu and the others at least believe Kuvira is working in the name of Prince Wu. Whether Kuvira actually plans to hand the territory over to Wu is another story.

I never argued that it was PTSD or Mercury poisoning, though.

I just really don't think this action is out of her character. She's just been convinced by the events of the past three years that this world doesn't need an avatar. Honestly, from the perspective of what information was likely avaliable to her, it's not even that much of an unreasonable conclusion to come to.

EDIT: Before anyone brings up my mercury comment on page 440, I was referring to her getting smashed in that fight, not so much as being a reason why she's there in the first place.

Y'know, maybe her running away has been done before. Maybe it hasn't. I really don't care, because like it or not (or get inexplicably angry, depending on who you are), its part of her character and her recovery. I'm going to make a wild guess here and say that no, nobody here has had PTSD and knows exactly what it takes for somebody to get over that sort of thing. (And if they do, please present your findings to the nearest psychiatric ward and research facility to publish your findings and revolutionize the field of treatment of PTSD.)

I also really can't be bothered with this thread anymore. Too much what seems to be simultaneous self-inflicted negativity and subsequent complaining about said negativity. Because if there's one thing this thread loves, its complaining.
