The next earth king is not.. that much of an improvement :P
I wonder where his claim stems from, and why he is not already King? Is he Hu-Ting's son? Nephew?

Who knows? Maybe he is Hou-Ting's son? Considering both of them are a-holes, it would make sense. Perhaps Wu wasn't trained for ruling, and thus was allowed to live the good life and be an ass without repercussions. That would make sense.

Here, a video of a guy giving his commentary on book 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Is290UWO ... KD4vwIVicw

Last episode of Legend of Korra is said to repeat how they did the last episode of ATLA, as the last episode will be entitled "Avatar Korra" similar to how the last ATLA episode was called "Avatar Aang"

I don't think Wu is the deceased Earth Queen's son. As much as an ass he seems to be, he lost his freakin' mother. I know, three years have passed since then, but still his behavior doesn't fit. Could he be so over-flamboyant by nature? I am more inclined towards the "rich-spoiled-brat-nephew" possibilty.

Or he just didn't like his mother. Given who she is, I think this is a distinct possibility, so he may see this as a legitimately good thing, both being free from his mother and inheriting her power in the process.

Also, depending on whether this is before or after the time skip, he's had years to come to terms with his mother's death anyway.

I cannot wait to see what the Avatar World is like in AG 174! How has bending changed? I can see that the modernness of bending has caught up with airbending (though I will really miss the old outfits like Aang wore, and old gliders :( ) I also hope that they don't ruin some of the characters, as many time jumps do.

Amazing video on nick.com about Book 4. It even uses the original series music (ATLA music), which I think is an amazing way to remind us of ATLA.

you know what ATLK needs? FOAMING MOUTH GUY!!!!!!!!

It has the same tune, but it's actually the version used in the intro to the first episode of Korra (Welcome to Republic City), when Tenzin is summarizing what happened in the 70 years after the end of the original series.

What I'm looking forward to the most is

Nope, definitely ATLA music. I rewatched both and compared.

Well this was a good episode and I am enjoying Kuvira a lot myself though she is certainly going to be a villain due to foreshadowing and her strategy of realpolitik. She seems to be an Avatarverse version of Otto von Bismarck to be honest.

First episode of Book 4. Let's go!

Hou-Ting is Wu's great aunt? That makes sense. Wonder what Wu and his family were doing all these years.

Almost zero chance of Wu being assassinated? Rule of TV says Wu will be assassinated.

I see Kai's voice is deeper. Makes sense. It has been three years.

Bolin is with the Metal Clan! I know that was announced before, but still!

Whoa! Villain or hero, Kuvira is one badass woman!

I see Kuvira wants the bandits to pledge loyalty to her, and not the Metal Clan. You know, Hitler had his army pledge allegiance to him, and not Germany. Just sayin.'

They just wanted to throw pies at Wu!? I get this is still a kids show that needs comedy, but those are some weak 'assassins'.

Kuvira supporters? So, it looks like we have Narcissist asshole vs. Conniving authoritarian. Tough choice.

Say, you know when I argued that LoK would never paint even a remotely positive picture of fascism and authoritarianism? Well, let's just say I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong.

I see Earth Rumble Six is back. Well, I guess it's not 6, anymore. More like Earth Rumble 80(ish).

Overall, good start. Have a good feeling about this season.

Kuvira wears the villain hat quite nicely. I wonder if they're setting her up as a sort of Anti-Zaheer, with an 'order at all costs' style mentality. Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more from her.

Also, I guess Korra thinks the World really doesn't need its avatar anymore. :<

First of all, Ameri, I give you permission to complain about Korra.

So, Opal & Bolin, and Kai & Jinora. Not surprising, after 3 years. Also, Bolin is working for Kuvira, and Mako is Prince Wu's security guard. I guess Earth King Kuei has spawned a ton of narcissists and tyrants. Courtesy of his wife, perhaps. I already don't like Kuvira. Also, I wonder for the status of Omashu. does it support Kuvira? has it joined her? Is it stable? I hope these questions are answered. Also, Korra? she seems to have ran away from her problems, and is acting like her typical Book 1 self. I don't like it. The world needs its avatar, just as much as it did during the 100-year war.

So I kind of forgot about this show and binge watched Book 3 (and chapter 1 of Book 4) in a few days. Book 3 was definitely a huge improvement over 2.

We know where Omashu is. We also saw Kuvira's map of the Earth Kingdom with the areas she controls. If someone can get a screenshot of Kuvira's map, we can easily determine the status of Omashu.

Also, I'm curious, is Kuvira making no pretenses of conquering for anyone but herself, or is she claiming to conquer in the name of the Earth King, Metal Clan, or some other power?
