Postby Provilet » Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:00 pm

The title is pretty self explanatory! What did you think? thumbs up thumbs down? How many stars? better of worse than the book?

This belongs in the Arts & Fiction section of the forums.

There's already multiple topics about the books and the film there.

saw it yesterday. liked it.

i am especially glad that they cast a real actress in the role of katniss. it could easily have gone to a disney girl like hillary duff or miley cyrus. instead they cast jennifer lawrence who has a real flair for this kind of role.

they had to leave stuff out and didnt develop the minor characters that made the book more fun but it was quite like the book for the most part.
whatever

No, fuck no. Hunger Games is in no way the world's greatest book, it isn't a great book, it isn't even a good book.

The Hunger Games was excellent. I loved it. It didn't stray miles from the book. There were differences, but I was able to overlook them for the absolute epicness that was The Hunger Games.

I love GOOD romance stories. But the whole story was trite and poorly written.

The books were amazing (IMO). The movie lived up to the books' legacy, I think.

Is this the one with the obese people who are forced to fight for their food for the entertainment of society's slimmer members?

Well if it's not, that might be a good spin-off to the series.

The Hungry Games.

I'm actually kind of liking the sound of that.

Wellllll, I understand that you all have different opinions of the hunger games, but there is no need to beat each other up over it.

I thought it was a great movie. A bit too shaky, but I am glad to see it be consitant to the book. This is just a random thing, but I WANT THOSE CONTEMPORARY GREEN CHAIRS THAT ARE USED! Sorry for yelling, but they would look so good at my dinner table. ;)

Why the 'Hunger Games' Sucked

Postby Beardnords » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:35 am

So here's my completely and totally relevant review of this god-awful movie.

Now, I have always been a fan of bloodsport. The concept of humans killing each other as a game makes me all giddy inside, and fills me with a warm sensation that no one could ever touch. But I swear to the almighty Allah, teenagers manage to ruin most of every damn movie they get their sweaty, angsty hands on.

Nothing makes a movie more terrible more than pandering to the teenage audience. Movies that do such a thing consist of angsty teenagers that are in love and have super duper abilities.

Here's the generic concept:

After a national rebellion, the government split the nation into twelve districts. To keep order amongst the people, we shall have teenagers, aged twelve to eighteen, fight in the annual 'Hunger Games,' where one person will be crowned the victor for killing everyone else. Our main protagonist, Ketness (or however the hell you spell it,) volunteers herself to be part of the games to take the place of her sister. The male that accompanies her, Pita, falls in love with her and will do anything for her. During the games, the rules change so that Pita and Ketness may both be crowned the victors if they both survive! I wonder what happens!!!1!!1!one

We get it, teenagers can do some cool stuff. Just stop putting them in movies, we don't want to hear about some girl/guy complain about his/her love interest and be angsty and such. If I wanted to watch that, I'll go into any high school that has ever been ever.

tl;dr 2/10 would not bang.
Don't give up the ship.

So sez you. But with an opening weekend of $155m and a freshness rating of 85% on rotten tomatoes, and 80% on imdb; da hunger gaymez is kickin' ass!
Even though the main actress is akwardly un-athletic irl, and had to be taught how to run due to her bowleggedness, she is quite nice to look at. Which is what's important in a heroine. She's like a sexy young Laura Linney.
So, in other words, if u can't beat em, join em. I myself just joined team Peeniss. Peeta+Katniss forever!

Oh yes, our entire age group ruins all works of literature intended for our consumption despite having little or no input in their production. It must be entirely our fault.
Removing the text from people's sigs doesn't make it any less true. I stand with Yalta.

Resistance is futile. Come support your fave team. If you're for Peeta + Katniss then join all those that love Peeniss. Unless you prefer Gale & Katniss of course, then team Gayniss it is.
