Blissey what now?

Blissey Bases.

Lvl. 100 Blissey's give out the most exp of any pokemon in gen 6(Around 15,000 exp per Blissey), so people have made special bases where you can hold a daily triple battle with 3 Blissey(The only move they know is Healing Wish and they're each holding a Toxic Orb), and get about 45,000 exp points in a day.

You can manually input codes to get people's secret bases I believe.

I've been playing OR almost nonstop the past couple days.

I just recently got to Mossdeep. My team is all Level 34 or 35, which is a problem, and four out of the six pokemon I've had since before the first gym.

So there's that.

Of the other two, one of them is almost ridiculously OP (mega latios ofc) and the other is getting trashed by all the water pokemon (lairon, who single-handedly got me through Norman but hasn't been much use since).

I'm slowly training them up in the sea around Mossdeep but it's very, very slow going. Mossdeep gym's trainers' pokemon are all 10+ levels above me and despite me having two dark type (shiftry + mightyena) I'm getting wrecked by grunts.

As you can see my team is pretty wishy-washy. I have a couple great defenders (It took a Tentacruel 13 levels above Lairon to finally take him out in less than five turns), a couple of great offenders (Shiftry is a mean bastard when he can be, and Gardevoir can hit with the best of them), and a couple in between (Latios is a jack-of-all-trades and Marshtomp is a huge give-and-take), but none of them really excel at anything useful. Lairon is great for taking a beating when nobody else can (as an Aron, he once survived six Retaliates from Norman's slaking without any HP recovery), and Latios can do some serious crowd control, but beyond that...blegh. My fighting strategy mostly relies on type matchups to deal any actual damage, and when I can't do that (like when the fucking psychic gym fields a fucking fighting type and one-shots both my dark pokemon) I get completely destroyed.

My advice would be to use the dexnav to find Pellipper with lucky eggs, get as many as you can, and grind like hell with those and the exp share.

Have you not been using the exp.share? The way it works these days is rather ridicilous. Ridicilous but effective. My team was around 50ish by Mossdeep.

I had it on until around Gym #2 because I found that my team was getting ridiculously unbalanced. Like a 8-level gap between my weakest and strongest pokemon.

Yeah, I found that happens with my team as well, when I used the exp share. As annoying as it is you should keep it on. Just look at the previous page to see how ridiculous it is

The Blazing Aura wrote:I wouldn't discount the EXP Share too quickly, it's not quite the same in Gen 1 as it is in Gen 6, in Gen 1 it shares the EXP equally, ie it gives each Pokemon 1/6th of the EXP, in Gen 6 it gives the Pokemon who were in the battle 100% EXP and those not in the battle 50% EXP, which is a huge amount if you think about it. Say Pokemon A gives 120 EXP when defeated in Gen 1 each Pokemon gets 20 EXP, in Gen 6 (say only 1 pokemon took part in the battle of 6 in your team) in the same circumstances your Pokemon who took part in the battle gets 120 EXP and your other five get 60 EXP, actually meaning you get 420 EXP out of a 120 EXP Pokemon.

Seriously?
I thought it worked the same way as in Gen I.

This is insane. How did I not know about this before.

No wonder I'm 20+ levels below where I should be.

Rotate the lowest level to the front to get the full exp while the highers in the back get just the share. If you need to backtrack a bit to get to an area where the lowest is able to fight, then do so. Adjust the rotation as needed to keep them balanced. Mine are all within 1-2 levels, except when I pull out something absurdly low levelled from the PC to level/evolve for my 'dex. Then I just throw that one in the back and spam Victory Road for a while.

That's my normal strategy. Order the 'mon by level, lowest first, and if the levels are the same go by HP. Been using that strat since Sapphire.

But the whole "fighter gets 100%, back team gets 50%" changes everything.

Huh. When levels are the same I put whoever's most likely to have the type advantage in the area out front. Surfing areas get whoever has the grass/electric move, mountains/fire areas get someone surfy, forests get a flier or fire, and so on.

Huh. When levels are the same I put whoever's most likely to have the type advantage in the area out front. Surfing areas get whoever has the grass/electric move, mountains/fire areas get someone surfy, forests get a flier or fire, and so on.

My thought process is that lower-HP pokemon would need more training to keep up, where higher HP 'mon are naturally more capable and don't need to train as much.
It's why my level 35 Latios (113 HP) is bringing up the rear while my level 35 Lairon (88 HP) is in the front lines. Both the same level, but one is obviously more powerful than the other.

Something with a higher defense/sp.defense wouldn't need as much HP because the same attack will do less damage.

True, but that's unreliable. Lairon has a huge defense stat but only half as much special defense, so it only helps him half the time. Also, fixed HP attacks will cause proportionately more damage to lower-HP-higher-Defense pokemon compared to the inverse. They're rare moves, sure, but still relevant.

I will admit though that the huge defense stat Lairon boasts (I think it's like 120 now) is causing him to be a bit OP against pokemon that don't have a type advantage. Also Sturdy + X Speed is almost sillily overpowered. It's like a pocket version of F.E.A.R.

Ohman, Sturdy on wild 'mons annoys me so bad. No. BAD level somethingteen geodude. When my l.80 hits you with surf, you faint. End of.
The Gravelers with Sturdy/Explosion makes me almost throw my DS. Someone at GameFreak needs a kick in the seat for that one.

Seriously. That one level 13 Geodude in the rocks north of Mauvile pissed me off so much until I got Fly.
My Shiftry almost three times your level should not have to hit you with two Leaf Blades. Seriously. UGHGHGHGHGHG

But it's damn useful when you're the one who has it lol. Can't wait until my Lairon evolves, because I have a feeling that Mega Aggron + Sturdy is gonna let me wipe the rest of the game clean.

Don't some of them get new abilities when they mega? I remember on X my Ampharos always changed its ability when it went mega from whatever it had before to mold breaker I think it was. Let it hit types that shoulda' been immune I guess?

Some of them do.

*looks*

Well I'll be damned. Mega Aggron changes its ability to Filter and also loses its Rock typing.
But that might not be that bad. Sturdy is a one-use-per-battle thing anyway, it might not be a bad idea to take advantage of sturdy on turn one and mega evolve on turn two.

Better to know that now than be surprised with it in the middle of an important fight, huh? I feel like I helped with something today. Go me.

I feel like the only person around who compares Mega Evolution to anime transformations like DBZ's Super Saiyans, rather than Digivolution (or something, I'm not a fan of Digimon)?

Because come on, I want Megas to look cool in my eyes.
I have a severe case of addiction to writing. At least 3k words every day is my fix.

DBZ transformations don't require a magic rock/tamagotchi.

The new plan is to replace all the weak pokemon with stronger pokemon!

Switched out level 34 Mightyena for level 45 Groudon. Soon I'm gonna switch out something (probably Shifty) for a level 50 Ho-Oh. Or I would if I didn't literally only bring one ultra ball to the ho oh fight.

Right so apparently a level 37 lairon can one-shot a level 50 ho-oh with rock slide and a crit.

Ho-Oh used Sacred Fire, Lairon survived because of Sturdy. Used Rock Slide, it was a critical hit, knocked out the Ho-Oh, got like 5K exp.
