Man, that's throwback as fuck. Much respect.
I had that VHS with like the first four episodes on it somewhere. I can proudly and unhesitatingly report that Misty was the pioneer of some of my earliest stiffies.

... Same here. :?

I think it's kind of sad she's in love with Ash. It's like if you were in love with a mentally handicapped person or something: everyone would look at you like you're some kind of sicko, and I hear it's a crapshoot if the person feels the same way about you, or is even capable of it.

I always imagined her living at her gym, watching Ash be famous on the TV, eating greasy food, pining for him until she died of old age, alone and forgotten.

Get the feeling one of the reasons I was so into her as a young'n was a matter of foresight: her life, soon enough, would become my own.

Ash? Famous? That would only happen if he won a Pokémon league or something, and we know that's never going to happen.

And what I needed was Mewtwo X as a respectable mega-counterpart to the fetal abomination that is Y.

Remember when those images of it came out before any of us knew what mega-evolution was gonna be? How worried everyone was that Pokemon had finally and utterly been destroyed?

Mega Mewtwo Y is better.

For purposes of the meta, sure.
For purposes of not wanting to be the owner of a telekinetic cat fetus with mutated afterbirth grafted to its head, absolutely not.

I bought the tapes... Most of them. :?

Yeah, fine. Honestly, I don't like YouTube because one second the video will be up and the next it'll be deleted. Or hell, when I'm watching it, the Flash will just crap out.

I've been watching the Johto episodes recently, I've been pleasantly surprised, because usually when you revisit something from your childhood it's terribly disappointing, but I've enjoyed this.
(Although if it were up to me Team Rocket wouldn't be in every episode, because they just do the same thing over and over...)

Personally I would be happy to sit through full length ad breaks to watch the show, like I did when I was a child, but paying for it just wouldn't be sensible... There's simply too much free entertainment out there, if I had to pay for old Pokemon... I'd just watch something else.

Wanna have a supporting evidence-less, tit-for-tat "yes it is, no it's not" NSG-style 'debate' about it?

1. Decent story.
2. The character's don't annoy me.
3. Ash actually had some intelligence, and didn't check his pokedex to see what a Charizard was.
4. The battles were pretty nice/cool.
5. The Hoenn region is a pretty interesting place.

Subjective. Though I nominally agree; Aqua/Magma was the most dynamic criminal team until Flare came along.

Subjective. You must've not be watching the dub, then.

Subjective.

The whole point of repeatedly checking the Pokedex is the presumption that a younger generation of viewers might not be familiar with established monsters. Because the plot's alinear and for like, y'know. Childrans.

So, you don't have a decent argument and just hide it with adding "Subjective"?

It's less that and more my conclusion to the matter of whether in-depth passive-aggressive argument about the contents of the Pokeman amine yields enough self-affirmation to be a worthwhile investment of time.

That's why I offered an NSG-esque debate ya bimbo.

I feel the need to reemphasize just how hard the X&Y gym battle theme goes.
