I am going up against the Elite 4 in Pearl version.

I decided to assemble my team carefully. Here are some of the candidates:

Torterra
Gastrodon
Noctowl
Staraptor
Lucario
Bastiodon
Ponyta (I am currently training it to evolve)
Abamasnow
Sneasel
Kadabra
Palkia
Luxray

I know you can only have six, but which ones do you think would make a good combination.
If I pick Abamasnow, I won't use Torterra or Sneasel for example.

Staraptor is superior to Noctowl, I think Ponyta's a must as is Lucario as Bastiodon is too slow. Sneasel, Torterra, and Palkia should make up the rest of the team.

Staraptor is superior to Noctowl, I think Ponyta's a must as is Lucario as Bastiodon is too slow. Sneasel, Torterra, and Palkia should make up the rest of the team.

I like your suggestions, but unlike Staraptor, Noctowl can learn psychic moves which could come in handy.

Sadly, that rail gun has such high power requirements that that the tortoise usually gets obliterated before it can ever pull it out.

Right let's see. From a gaming point of view, Staraptor is better than Noctowl. Don't go Abomasnow (it's Snow Warning will hurt the rest of your team). Palkia's nice. Evolve Sneasel, Kadabra and Ponyta (if possible). My team from that list would be Lucario, Weavile (Seneasel evolved), Palkia, If possible to evolve Kadabra Alakazam otherwise Luxray, Torterra, Starpator.

Both allies in a triple battle use Helping Hand
An ally has the Ability Flower Gift and the weather is sunny
Shuckle holds a Metronome
Shuckle has used Power Trick
Shuckle has the Ability Pure Power as a result of Skill Swap
It is the 5th turn of using a Defense Curl-boosted Rollout consecutively without any misses
Rollout is a critical hit
The target is a level 1 Ledyba, Yanma or Combee
Shuckle has 6 Attack boosts and the target has 6 Defense drops
Shuckle has its maximum Defense stat (with IVs, EVs and Nature taken into account) and the target likewise has its minimum Defense stat

I've realised why I'm struggling so much to get into Pokemon X and Y. I'm one of those people who does the barest of team-building - check for obvious team weaknesses, try to find pokemon with natures that aren't terrible - and just play through the game like that and then play against people in casual matches with their in-game teams. Trouble is, the story in-game campaign is way too easy this time and everyone I know seems to be doing this generation a lot more seriously and so the social aspect of the game I had before in recent gens is gone. Fighting randomers isn't much fun at all - asking people I don't know to be friends isn't anything I'd ever do in real life - and they've probably been doing EVs, SUVs, HIVs and whatever else and would just steamroll. I'm not getting any "just right" fights and so keep getting bored and restarting.

So, I'm not sure if any of you have ever done these things, but I've encountered those Pokemon Sprite merger things on the internet, and tried them out. I got bored pretty quickly, so then I tried to make my own.

I've basically just made some additions to a Liepard, since it's my first (and kind of test) sprite. I've used different colors, and I used Deoxys' arms for the tails, as well as Luxray's star for the tail points. The orbs floating around him are from Spiritomb.
