In my opinion the best pokemon introduced in gen 4 was Garchomp, it is one of the strongest non legendaries, and learns a group of high power moves like earthquake and dragon rush, and is extremely fast.

If we're going for sheer power, then I'd agree. There's a reason that Garchomp is one of the few non-Legendary Ubers. However, if we're going overall and on personal opinion, then I have to very much disagree. I don't like Garchomp. At all. Then again, the only Dragon-type that I actually do like is Flygon (well, fully evolved, that is. I also like Dragonair). My personal favorite from Gen IV was Roserade. I just love that thing so much.

And I've grown to hate Flygon after playing UU :p Roserade is indeed awesome and is one of my favs. I think I would say my single most favorite from Gen IV was Honchkrow, although. Gen IV was when I was experimenting seriously with trick room, and the Big Boss was pretty great there. I also once Super Powered a friend's Tyranitar that he would gloat about ftw.

Roserade is definitely a lot more useful than Honchkrow. She looks like she has a single niche from her stats, but has one of the most impressive movepools in the game along with a great design. I want to make a gen 4 team now...

I change based on the generation and how many times I've played. In Gen I, I've picked both Bulbasaur and Charmander. In Gen II, I've picked all three at one point or other. In Gen III, I've picked Torchic and Mudkip. In Gen IV, I've only ever picked Piplup, and in Gen V, I've only picked Oshawott, though I would also pick Snivy if I'd done more than one playthrough.

Bulbasaur and Chikorita are actually the only ones who can poison, ignoring Toxic, of course, but every Pokémon that can learn TMs can learn that.

I'm very nostalgic when it comes to the anime, but that's why I will never watch any more episodes. I want to keep that feeling. I only watched until the end of Johto, and some of Hoenn (mostly the movies).

Gen V's ghosts are pretty powerful.

I am exceedingly fond of Gen V's ghosts. I have 2 on my main team, Gunbuster the Golurk(The first one I could find with Iron Fist. It had an impish nature. :3) and Cheshire the Cofagrigus, who is a troll. :3 3/4 of his moves have remained the same since I caught him.

Personally I don't see why people have such hatred of Gen V. It introduced some absolutely brilliant pokemon, such as Krookodile and Golurk.

It's not a perfectly balanced cycle though; ground resists rock, but ice is hit neutrally by ground and rock neutrally by ice.

I very much doubt it. Triple typed Pokemon would just make matters too complicated I believe. Also 4x weaknesses are bad enough, if any Pokemon had an 8x weakness that would be a major issue for it.

Indeed, it balances "forwards", but the usual fire-grass-water cycle also balances "backwards".
