I just like Unova. Layout is simple, and easy. Besides, I'm almost beating my cheat-loving neighbor!!

Unova is the best region. Hoenn was nice, but it had too many flaws, like an over-abundance of water routes. Sinnoh was rather mediocre, same with Johto, but Kanto kinda sucked. It was just a fucking square. So boring.

I'm sorta mad because I'm lost in every single Pokemon game I have. Unova was just easy.

Every region map is just a collection of squares (e.g. the Kanto squares centering around Saffron). The only exception is Unova which looks more like a speech bubble.

The Unova region is actually fairly nice, I like the symmetry of the overall layout and it has some good locations. What lets it down is the way it's implemented in the game feeling way too linear. One of the few obvious forks - west or east from Nimbasa - has the choice forced upon you. You don't get any real choice in the order to visit places until the postgame. Compare that to RBY, when you could choose whether to go to Saffron or Fuschia first (and could even reach Cinnabar Island before visiting Saffron City), or Johto where you could pick between Olivine and Mahogany.

And I'm sure Gen I had the best names, eh? I mean, with such gems as Seel, Grimer, Ghastly, Butterfree, Graveler, and so many others, it must have. I can really see why the Gen I names are so special.

Some of the new gen names are ridiculous. They're running out of original Pokemon. They used to be based of off real animals, but now we have ones like Chandelure. A chandelier, really?

I fought against Candice in my Diamante version, my Torterra, Jennifer, lost the first round, and then my Steelix, Tenma, curbstomped the rest of her party.

Coincidentally that's the same team with the shining Crobat, Haruna.

Looking through a lot of these posts, and seeing yours, it makes me think that everybody nicknames their pokemon. So, do most of you? I never nickname mine. If I get a nicknamed one in a trade, I just make a baby of it and either trade away the nicknamed parent or release it.

I find that nicknames and "improper" genders (A female Machamp? No thank you, release!) ruins my categorizing of my pokemon in the PC. I like to organize them all by final evolution and numerical order. And nicknames just take away from it I guess. :/

I don't nickname my Pokemon, I like to read what type of Pokemon mine are, instead of looking at the picture. I'd forget which Pokemon is named what.

It wasn't exactly exempt from the silly concepts. Besides, Chandelure is based on the Japanese mythical creature Hitodama. That's more of an origin than Grimer, Magnemite, or Geodude.

Oh, Gen V was great for ghosts. Chandelure, Cofagrigus, and Golurk are all awesome. Gen IV did introduce Mismagius and Froslass, which are also good, but I still like Gen V's ghosts more. Gen III was really just disappointing. I didn't like any of them. :/

Well, Chandelure does have the highest Sp.Atk. of any non-Legendary...

And Jellicent is the greatest spinblocker ever made, Golurk hits like a truck (but his movepool kinda blows), and Cofagrigus is an amazing stat-up wall/preventer/pivot. I know this is pretty blatant "power creep", but fuck you all I love ghost pokes

If only there were no entry hazards/weather :/ I felt the same way about Sableye, but then they gave him Prankster.

I just wish Froslass had more physical moves as her stats would make her a good mixed attacker. I also wish she could learn hypnosis to make her Wake-Up Slap more powerful.

I use her on my hail team as a sub-disabler. I was really surprised how well it works. Blizzard + thunderbolt has amazing coverage, and a lot of pokemon, especially defensive types, will only have one move that can KO her. Also hilarity ensues if the attacking pokemon is Encore'd

I thought one of the more interesting pokemon introduced was Castform. Sure it kind of sucks, but it has a pretty interesting concept. I wish it had a sandstorm form though.

It's an interesting gimmick, but, like most gimmick Pokémon, it's not particularly useful.

Gimmicks and cheese = 99% of Smogon unfortunately. It's gotten to the point where you can't prepare for every gimmick, so you'll get schooled by some infuriating combo (like FEAR). One of the reasons I started playing Under Used.

FEAR is pretty easy to beat with weather effects or laying down a Stealth Rock/Spikes, but I see your point, anyways.
