I think most of the criticism is coming from new Chinese players that aren't used to CA policies. Honestly, the 8 Princes DLC should have a mixed attitude on Steam at around 50% to 60%, instead of a rather harsh 36%.

Also, I'm guessing some of the reviews are complaining about NetEase. Hell, some WH2 reviews are complaining about NetEase.

The Krogan wrote:
Yeah, same thing nearly happened to me, but like I said I just abandoned my starting settlements to Liu Biao and Yuan Shao. Once you're able to make peace with the larger factions its easier to pick on the smaller ones and gain territory.

I also found it pretty anti-climatic that the Tyrant can die within five turns from a scripted event.

The Yellow Turbans certainly have a different playstyle compared to other 3K factions! I'll probably need to suffer a few more campaign defeats until I can get my strategy adjusted! Might try Gong Du next considering he's rather isolated!

I think it'd be nice if CA had more campaign customization options. Like stopping legendary characters dying from events. Dong Zhuo's event is a hit or miss. Sometimes, Dong survives until turn 100 with Lu Bu at his side. Other times, he drops like a fly the moment the Diaochan event chain starts!

Oops, Sun Jian was my first ever campaign and I haven't touched him ever since. Probably should get back to him sometime in the future! Hopefully, CA releases a barbarian DLC for 3K which will fill up the bottom of the map!

Because fuck NetEase, that's why.

Fucking Chinese market, its a damn plague on platforms like Steam.

Word of advice about Gong Du: Ma Teng will attack you with a superior force on turn 1. You will lose unless you fight out the battle. set up behind a choke point and force them to attack in an unfavorable position. Turns out capturing the Emperor just makes him abdicate and I assume make the Han independent. No clue how that impacts the game yet.

Huh, I was wondering what would happen if a yellow turban faction captured the Emperor, would have been interesting if the Han just turned into yellow turban factions.

If you are a high rank Yellow Turban faction it might change and allow you to vassalize the Han, but as it stands I was like rank 1 or 2 without the ability to do much diplomatically so when i took the Emperor he abdicated. I have no idea how to test it as Gong Du will expand into the Emperor fairly early and He Yi and the other guy might not be able to get to the appropriate rank until an ai faction advances rank and forces the emperor to abdicate.

Attila with heavy modding for historical accuracy imo is the best game in the franchise.

Another annoying thing about the Chinese Market on Three Kingdoms: 90% of the mods are in Chinese. Don't have a problem with mods made by non-english creators but when most of the descriptions have no english in them or no mention of an english localization I get annoyed.
They should have separated the user bases, Steam really dropped the ball.

It has a better empire!

And, while I like Warhammer, I think historicals are the bread and butter of the franchise. I like Warhammer, but the fundamentals of the franchise's sub-genres are very different.

Warhammer 1 and 2 aren't bad but my interest in Fantasy and "Age of Sigmar" aren't enough to justify paying $35-60 for a game that takes up quite a few gigs.

Three Kingdoms however...

Imo the worst thing about Warhammer 1 and 2 are that you can't make total conversion mods for them. Total conversion mods for those games would open up a lot, so I hope CA will obtain the rights to other fantasy franchises to make games of. I just think Attila has a lot going for it from the atmosphere, the fundamentals of the game, custom maps, etc. With mods to make the position of the Roman's and aesthetics more historically accurate, it's my favorite TW game.

Categorically speaking it has a worse empire.

I feel like a grand strategy game where you command thousands is the conceptual opposite of Fire Emblem.

Warhammer, Warhammer II, Three Kingdoms, and Fire Emblem Three Houses disagree.

Shogun 2 has always had a questionable use of Pyrrhic victory. TBH its more often than not a Heroic Victory in an offensive battle.
