Yes i do, its a very good game and ive having a lot of fun with it. Some clunky interface and ui aspects which can make some things unclear, and the revamped spying and diplomacy stuff can take a while to get used to, but the gameplay is solid, and both game modes are fun, so if you dont like the warhammer style romance mode with powerful solo generals just switch over to records and vice versa.

Yeah definitely. It is a bit different from other total war games so it may take a bit of time to get used to but it is pretty damm fun.

So after watching Valefisk playing Three Kingdoms on YouTube, I'm completely convinced that generals need to be nerfed.

I was thinking of getting it with my next paycheck but I've gotten back into Rome 2 and Attila. Attila's horde/migration mechanic is just too fun. My Jutish kingdome in Denmark got taken over by the Danes? Oh well, I'll just found a new kingdom in Britain. Oh wait....that got mostly overrun by Picts and Romano-Britains? Well now I have a Jutish realm in northern Iberia and all is well.

Somewhat surprised this thread started in 2012 and is only now reaching toward 500

Perhaps I'll go back to Britain eventually or maybe I'll just pull a Visigoth move and establish a large kingdom here, or maybe go the Vandal route and migrate into Africa. The possibilities are endless!

Interest in this series dies regularly, and most of us post in Paradox as regulars. There also is little in the way of a thread community especially now that Xie is gone.

While I like the relationship mechanic in three kingdoms does anyone else find it annoying that the development of one trait will ruin a characters relations with another even when they have three other traits in common?

The Romance mode for 3K really makes me want Shogun 3 rather than Medieval 3 or Empire 2. Like imagine how much fun it could be if they went all in with that weeby nonsense and the hero centric campaigns and battles. Though I really don't want Shogun 3 with most of the factions behind DLC.

At this point though I really feel like CA owes us a gunpowder-centric game. Empire still hasn't gotten a proper sequel, and it's been almost 10 years now since Napoleon was released.

I could see them working the Romance mode into Medieval 3 though, it seems like it would work well with feudalism.

We need to stop letting this thread die.

The new dlc for Three Kingdoms has come out and while I've yet to be able to play it I still stand by my word that this is the best TW game since Shogun 2.

Speaking of DLC Rome 2's is overpriced even when on sale and it annoys me.

Took a look on Steam and the reviews for the new DLC have been "mixed" for the most part, of course those are steam reviews and are thus personal opinions.

I'd rather have mediocre DLC for a great game than terrible dlc for a bad game.

True, CA could for sure do a lot worse with their DLC content.

Finally won a Three Kingdoms game, too bad Sun Jian decided to croak a few turns before I won the campaign. Which is really annoying when you consider that i reloaded a save before and others character survived many turns after their death. Hell, Liu Biao is still kicking ass at 76 years old. Sun Ce is cool but dad deserved to enjoy the victory.

Jesus, I thought the Bandit Queen campaign was tricky, being a Yellow Turban faction is like constantly being on the long march.

gong du or whatever his name is, he is the easiest oen because you start in a corner and can easily expand out and capture the emperor.

Yeah I'm playing as Huang Shao, had to abandon my starting settlements and blitz Kong Rong's peninsula to survive. Thankfully you can make peace with most factions after a couple of turns.

You're lucky the game's events don't apply to the player! :P

If you haven't, I highly recommend the Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong or you could watch the 2010 Three Kingdoms series to learn about the fates of Sun Jian and Sun Ce! While the TV show is lacking when it comes to the CGI department, it's somehow very charming and the actors, especially Cao Cao, are very charismatic.

Right after I was done watching the show, I immediately went back to the game and threw in a couple hundred hours or so! The show made me love the characters of 3K.

He Yi's start is hell. You have to avoid pissing off Liu Biao, Cao Cao, Yuan Shu and Sun Jian so they don't pounce on you at the same time in the early to mid game! My first campaign was a mess. Liu Biao and Cao Cao sandwiched me after 20 turns or so and I was at their mercy!

The AI Sun Jian faction usually has an event where Sun Jian himself dies early in the campaign, around turn 20 to 30 if I remember correctly. The event is called 'Declawing the Tiger'. Sun Jian dies early in every campaign that I have started recently.

Sun Ce also has a scripted event where he's killed if he's controlled by the AI but I think there's a 50/50 chance of it triggering as I've seen him live up to turn 100 and further but sometimes, he dies at around the turn 50 mark.

I see, and in fact those events do in fact apply to the player but you get a choice to go against them. So I kept Sun Jian alive until the last few turns where he insisted on dying of old age.

Yeah, same thing nearly happened to me, but like I said I just abandoned my starting settlements to Liu Biao and Yuan Shao. Once you're able to make peace with the larger factions its easier to pick on the smaller ones and gain territory.

I also found it pretty anti-climatic that the Tyrant can die within five turns from a scripted event.

I can understand the complaints for the 8 Princes DLC of it being the same units, buildings, and same map. But honestly "Mostly Negative" is bullshit. A TOTAL WAR DLC that is a CAMPAIGN PACK with MORE THAN 3 FACTIONS for ONLY 10 DOLLARS. If this was Rome 2 or Attila they'd charge you $15-$20 for three factions and broken mechanics.
