Enemy reinforcements magically appear on my left flank on my side of the river.

This is serious bullshit...

They were dug in covering the two river crossings.

I ended up exiting and reloading the campaign so I could attack the enemy before they consolidated forces, because if they can cheat, why shouldn't I?

Shame though, I really wanted to see the enemy try and cross the river. I had my infantry entrenched, my artillery dug in shooting down their throat should they cross, and the opposite approaches fucking mined!

So I got Attila to work so i decided to play some Charlemagne as Mercia and in all honesty fuck the backstabbing that goes on. I decided to let one little Welsh state live while I was at war with Munster and they decide to backstab me cripple their economy by breaking our trade agreement then have the audacity to propose a peace treaty when I am seiging their only province. In the meantime I was forced to make peace with Munster to stop them from walking around conquering provinces at will. THEN ANOTHER IRISH FACTION DECLARES WAR ON ME. What have I the KING OF ENGLAND done to the Irish? like historically the English haven't even fucked around in Ireland yet.

As someone who is about to go home from spending about a month in Ireland, this little string of comments is awesome. Spent a day visiting Michael Collins' sandbox in west Cork learning about him--it sounds like Michael Collins was born several centuries early in your game because, because the Irish know what the British are going to do before the British know what the British are going to do, lol.

Just watch, suddenly you'll see Spanish armies landing, and then a French army, and when you click on the French army its leader is Wolfe Tone.

I've played just about every Total War game extensively but I think the best memories from the games come from Empire and Rome 1.

In Empire I remember playing as the Netherlands and getting pretty powerful since their elite infantry is broken as all hell. I was chilling with my full army in Amsterdam when France made the decision to declare war on me. In the span of a single turn I took my army in Amsterdam and marched them straight to Paris, defeating the French army there and taking the France region. Then for giggles I demolished every single building and port in the region and replaced the town buildings with schools. I then proceeded to take my army back to Amsterdam and give the region back to France in exchange for a peace treaty, which they accepted. The stupid clamour for reform in the negative public order caused a revolution in France that overthrew their government. It apparently didn't fix the public order issue in the slightest, and since the AI didn't know how to demolish the schools to get rid of the clamour for reform, France was literally stuck in a perpetual state of rebellion and anarchy for the rest of the game no matter who took it over.

I also remember playing the Barbarian Invasion expansion for Rome 1 and defeating an entire Vandal horde using less than 2 full Roman armies. Corpses EVERYWHERE.

Rome 1 is one of the best total war games for sure, with Empire (in my mind) right behind. Definitely my most played of the series. Though for me, Medieval total war 1 was the first one I played and I have great memories of that game.

I still play Empire quite a bit, still a classic.

So for shits and giggles, I just played a single battle in Empire where a full stack of Iroquois tribesmen went up against a full stack of British Puckle guns.

The human wave attacks prevailed in the end (mainly by turning the British flank), but it sure was fun watching the frontal assaults get mowed down!

Scuttlebutt points to summomable campaign level hero you get for a good number of turns with godlike combat stats (soloing multiple Giants, Archaon, etc.), but only can summon so many times. Once for each tier of the new Chivalry mechanic, iirc, so about four times in a campaign.

Im looking forward to the Bretonnian release, i was never a major fan of them before (did play a mod campaign as them for a bit, and fought some epic battles against orcs) but the trailer got me hyped up for some heavy duty cavalry charges

I can't answer this question like you'd like but I can tell you that sometimes the game will glitch and not recognize your computer's ability to handle better settings. Empire at least has this problem, not sure about Attila. Maybe try looking up support pages.
