Thinking about getting back into Total War.
I have, Rome 1, Medieval 2, Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun.

What would be the best mod to go with Medieval 2?

Hyrule Total War, Third Age Total War as well Thera: Legacy of the Great Torment are both mods I'd highly recommend if you're looking for a fantasy twist.
If you just want an improved vanilla game I'd go with Stainless Steel.

It's pretty much over for Rome on Windows 10 since it's way too old of a game although it's strange that Medieval II works for you since it's also relatively old too. I don't have Medieval II on Steam so I'll probably buy it this winter sale and check it out.

Anyways thanks for the reply!

Third Age is by far my personal favorite (and is popular enough to have overhauls of the overhaul, including my personal favorite Second Age Total War). Others I've heard were good were Seven Kingdoms Total War (I'm almost certain its a Song of Ice and Fire TW), Call of Warhammer, Europa Barborum II, Stainless Steel, and Total Vanilla (in case you just want Vanilla, but better).

You mean like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1-3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2, Call of Duty...

Selling very similar games in the same series is a pervasive problem in the video game industry. Its part of the reason why a series making sequels every year (or even every couple of years) is a decidedly a bad thing.

Black Ops 1 really isn't like Black Ops II. Honestly I kind of struggled to argue why Black Ops was that different from Modern Warfare back in the day, but then BO II blew it away.

It has a multiple choice storyline that can be affected by in game choices and not just playable cutscenes, the ability to choose campaign loadouts, strike force missions, a run and gun oriented multiplayer, campaign challenges, DLCs adding weapons for the first time, huge changes to zombies, etc.

I guess that's a fair statement to make, but the fact of the matter is, BO II is the execption to the rule. For the most part CoD (and many games like it) are plagued by a sort of stagnation due to the fact that new sequels need to be released constantly to keep up with market pressures. It results in far fewer changes than there would be if they had proper time to develop a new game (or even a sequel).

I am not sure if this is the right place to post, but I want to play Napoleon Total war and I was wondering if my desktop specs would run Napoleon Total War (I have never played a Total War game. I do have HOI4, EU4 and Minecraft on my PC, but HOI4 and Minecraft run kind of slow).

Specs:

Intel (R) HD graphics 4400

Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM) i3-4170 CPU @3.70 GHz

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB

64 bit operating system

Windows 10

What I was wondering is if it would run smoothly, as in really smoothly. Because I may upgrade some stuff on the computer (such as the graphics card and the PSU).

Sorry Allidron, im not that good tech wise, have you tried googling the recommended specs and trying to compare yours with it?

If your computer is less than five years then it should be fine.

Note that you have to mess with the files if it doesn't let you play on high quality.

Yeah there's sometimes a glitch where the game won't let you play on max quality even if your computer handle it. The forums can help you out.

Just keep in mind that playing on the highest settings likely won't end well unless you have a really good computer for this kind of thing. That said I can run Empire just fine with pretty high quality and my computer isn't anything special.
