I just bought the last DLC I needed for that....

Now I just am waiting until RTW2 is giving me any more DLC before preorders.

oh, btw, is this the first time you're playing TW? :)

I played some games on a friend's computer when he left it with me during a trip of his, but never actually owned them until today.

I feel the AI has a deeper unit pool than me somehow depsite them having less land and money.

Any tips?

If you have fifty provinces I would just take Rome and win. That's what I did because I was pretty sure there was no way that I was going to be able to beat them. In fact, by the time I made my move the entire map was Roman.

You like epic gunpowder based battles? Napoopan. Want gunpowder battles across three continents and naval battles in five? Empire. Want a slugfest? Med 2. Want something that involves japan? Shogun 2. Want something that has an actual AI? Med 1.

Even on the highest difficulty MTW is pretty easy because of that "you can have one million negative florins" factor. Plus, the AI is inclines to take on way more than it can chew (landlocked a province that is the sum total of another faction's holdings, expect a war).

Total War is probably my favorite franchise of all time. Across the games I own I've easily played 3000 hours. I have 1400 hours in Rome (<3 Roma Surrectum), 1000 on Empire (Darthmod), 580 on Medieval 2 (all TATW), 380 in Shogun 2 (Darthmod), 200 on Napoleon (aaand Darthmod again, with a Prussian campaign currently in progress). I nearly always play as the Julii, the Prussians, Austrians or British, the Easterlings, and the Chosokabe or Shimazu respectively.

I will destroy you.

Are your units grouped? I see this all the time when I try to drag-and-drop (as you say) grouped units. However, at least in all of my experiences with this, while the formation will appear to be perpendicular to what you clicked when you hit spacebar the units will form up as ordered and if you hit spacebar as they draw close to their destination, you should see the formation shift to what you originally ordered.
