Hadoken's not bad, check out their album Luminary.

And best Post-Rock band lists go as follow:
1. GYBE
2. Do Make Say Think
3. Slint
4. early Mogwai
5. the rest

Not even a mention of Tortoise absolutelydisgusting.

All these terrible genre names are making me buttmad we need to change them :<
North Wiedna wrote:They have similar musical characteristics.

Their instrumentation is similar. But most rock bands have similar instrumentation and we divide them appropriately. Mogwai sometimes build to a crescendo but only on their early stuff really, and even then not always.

Earth I don't see the comparison, they're not really crescendocore'y.
North Wiedna wrote:First Wave bands and those most influenced by them tend to be more interesting and inspired, like Tortoise, Grails, Slint, Henrytennis, and PVT. Probably missing a few, Shora might be able to be grouped in there somehow. Second wave is great, too, if a bit standardized, if that makes sense. It's basically what people expect from post-rock. Then you have third wave twinklecore shit.

You also have all the mathrock bands inspired by first wave, though the other half seems to be getting it from noise rock, which is also a great genre.

On the topic of rost pock has anyone heard Suffocate For Fuck Sake's 'Blazing Fires and Helicopters on the Front Page of the Newspaper. There’s a War Going On and I’m Marching in Heavy Boots'? It's really weird, some parts are practically just sludge whereas other bits are post rock.

And other parts are post rock with shrieked vocals.

Worth a listen if you like sludge or post rock, though it's not amazing. Definitely could be better. Very atmospheric. Great title.

we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

Sounds kinda meh to me, but I've never really been into that kind of style of music...so yeah. I'm not one to judge that kind of style of music.

The band Fat32 is a good uh....band that has a mixture of a bunch of weird stuff? Not sure what genre you'd call it.
Live thing. I'm not sure there's any non-live stuff on YouTube of theirs...so for you Spotifiers:

I don't really like music newer than 2006, except for Coldplay. I like lots of types of music. Glam rock, pop rock, alt rock, disco, ballads, punk rock, british rock, rap (MC Hammer, The Lonely Island), heavy metal (barely), country (a little bit, NOT TAYLOR SWIFT), classical... But my favourite band is Queen. I like how they did different genres. Glam rock, pop, pop rock, opera, disco, ballad, rock anthems, alt rock, vaudeville, heavy metal, etc.... Loved how the lead singer, Freddie Mercury sang, soft or loud. The guitarist, Brian May's guiar solos. The creativity... it's sad that Freddie Mercury died in 1992 because of AIDS.
R.I.P. Freddie Mercury :(

You guys should check out Akala. He's a British rapper, but he incorporates rock, jazz, techno, and retro into his music, and he raps about cool stuff. If you are less interested in his musical style and more in his rap, you should check this out instead. Has anyone else heard of him besides me? One of my friends in England introduced me to him, and everyone else who I know that has heard of Akala has heard him through me.

I need to listen to it again as I was playing something while listening to it first time (shameful) but the heavier parts were pretty good.

I guess the spoken word samples might've had more of an impact if I spoke Swedish.

:palm:

Screamo ≠ screaming.

Screamo is a portmanteau of emo and scream, referring to a type of abrasive hardcore combining the introspection and dynamics of early emo music with passages of extreme aggression.

Because they don't know the genre's origins, since it's underground. Here are a couple examples of actual screamo.

NO.

Screaming + emo = Screamo

If it doesn't have the emo, it is NOT screamo!!

Most actual screamo and emo bands that I know completely suck in my opinion, but I'm not entirely against all bands with 'screaming' aspects to them, or whatever you'd call it.
