use your linguistic skills to persuade me mannn!

I've been trying to listen to some new bands lately; Sigh (avant garde black metal), White Hills (space)
Mogwai (post rock) and Dozer (stoner).

I've been listening to a lot of Grunge.

Soundgarden is definitely my favorite.

That and cKy.

[EDIT: I'm not saying cKy is Grunge, I'm saying I've been listening to it lately.]

15, and I actually like some of LP's music. Actually, now that I think of it, I think I've heard every single Linkin Park song (official and unofficial), and I'm not joking about how their stuff sounds the same.

If I was joking about their music, this pretty much sums it all up:
Hybrid Theory EP: A guy rapping, a guy screaming, and a guy with turntables.
Hybrid Theory: Exactly same as the above but with more tracks.
Reanimation: Remixes of Hybrid Theory.
Meteora: Hybrid Theory with a different album cover.
Live in Texas: Hybrid Theory on a stage.
Collision Course: Hybrid Theory and some other rapper.
Minutes to Midnight: Not Hybrid Theory. This album was instantly panned by many people for not being Hybrid Theory.

Once I had to watch a Linkin Park video and there was a whale in it.

I don't know why I'd post that but...

Why does every band feel the need to put a "hidden track" at the end of an album?

It's not that sneaky when your track goes silent eight minutes in, and it's only half over...

Looking at you, Demonic Death Judge, Baroness, Mitsunori Ikeda, and Gojira. You could at least cut down on the length of the silence.

we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

I was actually thinking when it would be appropriate to put a hidden track earlier today. I think it comes down on figuring out how to organize an album. IDK... It makes sense sometimes to give a little treat to the listener that's not on the track listing.

Something similar that I question is putting a track exclusively on some certain form of a record (Japanese edition, deluxe, CD, etc). It's the same record but with one other track and a different price.

Yeah, I kind of want to have a song that ends halfway through, and the listener sits there expecting a bonus track, but there isn't one. Just eight more minutes of silence.

Common enough that someone's probably already done it though >.>

I finally found out what has bothered me for a while now.

Although I never minded it much, it kinda bugged me whenever I would be listening to music and when I try turning it down because certain portions are loud, I end having trouble hearing the track clearly and enjoying it. Now I wouldn't refer to myself as an audiophile, but I figured that there was some critical imbalance going on. And now I know that there is, and it's all thanks to something called the "Loudness War."
(Thank you, TV Tropes!)

Anyone else have problems with this?
