Instead we need 50 sub genre's of electronica (dubstep, drum and bass, liquid funk, drumstep, trance, techno (I think those 2 count), glitch hop, trip ho, to name a few), rock (Alternative rock, butt rock (my dad and I's created genre), post-rock (I can pick out post rock bands mostly now), jazz rock, rap rock, ect), and many other sub genres of genres. JUST CALL IT SIMPLY ROCK GOD DAMN IT! OR ELECTRONICA! WE DON'T NEED 500 GENRE'S TO CONFUSE THE *BEEP* OUT OF EVERYONE!

It is very likely that I'm listening to music unless I am playing a video game on my computer (which has music on it, and surprisingly I haven't played video games on my computer in a while. On the PS3 is another story)

Okay, now that my over dramatic all caps typing is over, and I got that out of my system, I shall move on to...uh. I like a variety of music too, from rock, to metal, to electronica, to ect, and stuff. I will most a bunch of songs later when I feel more awake...and if anyone really cares to hear some random crap from some random guy on the internet.

Although it confuses me and I hate looking at all the genres all the time, it's necessary for movements with different elements to be grouped into collections of similar material so that people could identify it more easily and find similar acts.

The wordage here can imply that those who don't use last.fm don't like music enough. Now I see what you're saying. Although it's a stretch.

The casual top 40 fan typically does not like music enough to bother with scrobbling. Apologies if the way I worded it implied somethinge else. I've only had a last.fm for 7 months myself.
No hard feelings. I really don't care at all about last.fm, which is probably why I'm quick to voice my indifference towards or challenge it whenever it's brought up.

It would be interesting to find out how much difference in "mainstreamness" is between my last.fm library vs my physical and mp3 library.
Not that I am interested in deliberately being underground.

Are you referring to what I said? I never said I got the two confused or anything, just I don't really think we need so many freaking genre's of music. It gets kind of ridiculous. Now drum n bass and dubstep I am fine with being their own genre's. Just some seem...pointless.
