Jesus Christ these guys don't sleep.

I suspect Tangerine Dream is actually an assembly-line style music factory, employing no less than sixty musicians at any given time. To cover their tracks, they have a hired touring "band" to actually go out and play shows.

Went through that 1001 list after removing those 47 albums I've already heard, and marked few albums which I want to listen to before the rest, ended up with 108 albums. The rest 846 albums I go through later... a lot later...

Been listening to Sun Kil Moon. Pretty good indie folk/indie rock. Getting quite a lot of albums rated an 8 actually. Gonna have to prioritize what I actually want to own of said albums that are ending up being rated an 8...

I'd just ignore the list altogether :P. As much as I am a movie listener, a list like that would be...too much for me. I'd have too much of an itching to go through other stuff.

Great, thanks! I have been looking for that list.
Let me count how much I've heard of them.

I've only heard 90, I thought it would be atleast 100.

It is for me, too, I just prioritized on the artists that were easier to plow through.

I'm the guy who has a record of listening through 32 EP's in one day, and on another day a few days later, 17 LP's. All one's I've never heard before until then. I'm always digging for new music of all types.

Stealing the idea and doing my version of the list. My list starts earlier though, from 1957. From '64 onwards I have something from every single year, missing only years '60, '61, '62 and '63.
57: Chuck Berry - After School Session
58: Chuck Berry - One Dozen Berry's
59: Chuck Berry - Chuck Berry Is on Top
64: Chuck Berry - St. Louis to Liverpool
65: Chuck Berry - Chuck Berry in London
66: No albums, just one song.
67: Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold as Love
68: Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
69: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country
70: Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys
71: The Doors - Other Voices
72: Dust - Hard Attack
73: Gary Moore - Grinding Stone
74: Hurriganes - Roadrunner
75: ZZ Top - Fandango!
76: AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
77: Triumph - Rock & Roll Machine
78: Black Sabbath - Never Say Die!
79: Motörhead - Overkill
80: Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations (Top10)
81: Venom - Welcome to Hell
82: Motörhead - Iron Fist
83: Dio - Holy Diver
84: Metallica - Ride the Lightning
85: Accept - Metal Heart (Top10)
86: Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
87: Dio - Dream Evil
88: Candlemass - Ancient Dreams
89: Terrorizer - World Downfall
90: Megadeth - Rust in Peace
91: Venom - Temples of Ice
92: Cannibal Corpse - Tomb of the Mutilated
93: Impaled Nazarene - Ugra-Karma
94: Kingston Wall - Tri-LoGy (Top10)
95: Ulver - Bergtatt: Et Eeventyr I 5 Capitler
96: Manowar - Louder than Hell
97: Venom - Cast in Stone
98: Impaled Nazarene - Rapture
99: Anal Cunt - It Just Gets Worse
00: Impaled Nazarene - Nihil (Top10)
01: Destruction - The Antichrist (Top10)
02: Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend
03: Satanic Warmaster - Opferblut
04: Motörhead - Inferno (Top10)
05: Candlemass - Candlemass
06: Impaled Nazarene - Pro Patria Finlandia (Top10)
07: Evile - Enter the Grave
08: Brother Firetribe - Heart Full of Fire
09: Los Bastardos Finlandeses- El Grande's Saloon
10: Exiled from Light - There Is No Beauty Left Here... (Top10)
11: Iced Earth - Dystopia (Overall their best)
12: Elysian Blaze - Blood Geometry
13: Los Bastardos Finlandeses - Day of the Dead
14: Iced Earth - Plagues of Babylon (100% guaranteed to change later.)

Out of my top10 albums 2 aren't on the list because they are just tiny bit worse than the best album of their years (2000: Venom's Resurrection is 5th while Impaled Nazarene's Nihil is 1st. 2004: Torsofuck's Erotic Diarrhea Fantasy is 8th while Motörhead's Inferno is 7th)

Top 5 most albums of the year bands: Chuck Berry 5, Impaled Nazarene 4, Jimi Hendrix 3, Motörhead 3, Venom 3
Chuck Berry's amount can be explained by the fact that 4 of them are the only albums of their years.

Yeah, those both might work. I always thought of Porcupine Tree as progressive rock/progressive metal, but they COULD be sort of a mix.

I want to learn how to play pedal steel. But it's such a specialized and unique instrument that it's maddeningly difficult just to find an instrument, much less an instructor. If only I lived in Nashville.

You hear pedal steel in so many places; from Led Zeppelin to neo-folk (and country, of course). You'd think there'd be somebody in this metropolis willing and able to teach me.

So I quite enjoy R.E.M. now, especially since listening through Murmur a few times. Some really nice stuff on there. I think my favorite song on there would have to be "Moral Kiosk."
