But I still like some Muse. Like Citizen Erased, for example. Probably their best song. Or one of the best, anyway.

Aaand I don't see it on YouTube anymore. Stupid copyright crap.

Try this if you think Nickelback isn't THAT bad...

As far as being worse, there's this, this, and this on the top of my head.

Edit: F'ing thing didn't want to post for some reason.

I'll try those after I go through more Muse songs. Why did I not know about Muse sooner? I definitely like this band. Uprising is now on my list of favourite songs.

Yay! New Muse fan! The older stuff, for the most part, is generally cooler than the newer stuff, but the newer stuff is still good too IMO. You need to hear "Citizen Erased," "Knights of Cydonia," "Time is Running Out," and "Hysteria" post-haste.

That also seems like a pretty bad comparison, if you ask me.

Seether and Nickelback being compared makes the most sense.

As in, they're both generally garbage in the same realm.

nah, seether are somewhat less awful than nickelback. morgan at least knows how to make post-grunge that isn't unlistenably bad. on occasion.
muse, imo, aren't that exciting (origin of symmetry is their only album that hasn't left me a little disappointed.)

while muse and nickelback/seether are both quite different styles of rock, that doesn't mean their qualities are incomparable.

I went through all those and I seem to prefer their newer songs.

If I am to be honest about Seether, yes, I dislike most of their songs, but they have a couple of good ones. Remedy and Broken are all I can name. Seether having songs I like, and Nickelback not having any I like, Seether wins in my opinion.
My standard is if a band has at least one song I like, they aren't terrible.

That's cool too. My favorite Muse album is still The Resistance, so you're not alone. Have you listened to "Supremacy" yet?

Since we seem to have happened upon an indie-type conversation, might I put forward The Wave Pictures?

What I like about it is the minimalist synth. Without that, I would not like the song.

Meryuma wrote:Imagine Dragons are pretty much the definition of bland and mainstream.

I don't consider Imagine Dragons to be bland.
As for the "mainstream" part, a band being successful doesn't automatically mean it's bland. System of a Down is "mainstream", along with Metallica.

Also, I have no idea what genres Des likes other than that one Kings of Leon song, so I had to work with that to find something somewhat similar.

I don't find the synth in Call Me Maybe parrticularly notable.

About Imagine Dragons, I don't think everything mainstream is bad or anything, I'm just saying it's weird to talk about them as some kind of alternative to standard radio rock when they're one of the most middle-of-the-road bands out there.

System of a Down seem pretty ehh from what I've heard. Metallica have good stuff in their catalogue but haven't been good for a while.

Hey Luveria, you might also want to listen to the three Exogenesis Symphony songs from the end of The Resistance. They aren't beyond amazing, but they're certainly worth a listen being a semi-important step in Muse's Muse-ical career.

Giving the 1975 another chance

pretty overhyped and their vocalist is mediocre

shame, since their production is there for the most part (though arguable that their bassist is a tad sloppy and the drumming overly processed)

Went through 12 EP's and 2 LP's since I woke up, generally, and listened through 1 2-disc CD I haven't heard in a while now.

This isn't all technically since I've been UP, since I passed out for a few hours earlier, but still a fairly good day overall. And pretty much all the EP's has been in the last...5 hours? 4?

Either way, new record in EP's. Of course, my record of like...16 LP's is still obviously the most impressive. And will probably never be beat again, especially based off of what I have left which is a lot of long albums.
