I used to have Petalflipper I think. Now I have my Facebook name.

My mom has Chippy Chin instead of her real name, but she made a Facebook to start Spotify...Don't recall how she did that.

Edit: Maybe she made a fake Facebook for that specifically

Well...still says Petalflipper here.

That's what I did. I wanted to keep my Spotify seperate from my regular FB. But for some reason I changed the fake one to my real name...
Maybe I can change it again.

Hmm, Sunbather by Deafheaven surpassed my expectations of the album. Pretty good.

I've blind bought 5 or 6 CDs,one was meh, one was so bad I sold it forward but the rest were lucky hits. Some of those excellent ones include Soulburn's Feeding on Angels, Urn's Soul Destroyers. There's also bunch of albums I bought based on ONE song I heard from it.

Ah, what I will be buying when I have money...

I don't like blind buying CD's, even for bands I know are probably going to be good. I like to hear an album before I buy it, no matter what band it is.

That's why most of my blind bought albums have been 1-5€ (1,37-6,87$). I do it because I'm too lazy to check stuff out before, or the recordshop is 40 miles from my home. Cover image usually gives some hint about the music inside. Also, I'm quite easy to please. If I like some band it's pretty unlikely that they make a bad album (that doesn't mean it wouldn't happen (ReLoad/Risk/etc)).

And apparently I'm not so easy to please:) Actually, I like a LOT of music, but for me to highly rate an album is not so much an easy task. Which is why I've probably never rated an album a 10.

Anyway, anyone here listen to Apocalyptica? I was going to listen to some of them but I really don't know where to start and I wanted some recommendations of where to start if anyone has. For now I've removed them from my list entirely.

It's weird. I'm a fan of a lot of relatively similar bands but that album is just snoozy for me.

I'm inclined to agree, it got pretty repetitive after a while

I didn't find it as amazing as everyone seems to think it is, but it still surpassed my original expectations of it. I do think it got repetitive pretty quickly.

It was an interesting listen, but I would probably never physically own it nor put it on any of my Top of the Year lists.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it was good for a bit but it got a bit too samey to me. Didn't make my cut for favorites this year, but I've heard worse. I will say it's hyper-overrated.

I recently got Iron Maiden's Somewhere Back in Time and it was worth the money. Also am I the only one who thinks Metallica sounds better live, especially Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning?

Master of Puppets is 10,000 times better live than on the album.
Especially this version.
For Whom the Bell Tolls is probably the only 'Tallica song that sounds better on the album imo. Other than that, the songs sound slightly better live. But then again I haven't listened their live versions all that much.

So I have been pointlessly trying to figure out what the difference between experimental music and avant-garde music is. For a while it seemed like pretty much the same thing.

From what I have noticed, experimental seems to more be like highly strange and bizarrely done versions of other genres and whatnot, like Hella that is a mash of noise rock and math rock, and whatever they're doing turns it into an experimental version of that. The whole album can be in the same general realm of genres and still be classified as experimental. I've seen this with a few bands.

Avant-garde seems to be more focused on being a mesh of a bunch of genres, and if you're staying around the same genre throughout your entire album, you're not really classified as avant-garde. Except avant-garde metal, but even those mesh all sorts of weird genres with metal. Secret Chiefs 3, Ulver, and so on being good examples because a lot of their albums can't really be classified as one genre, and neither can specific songs half the time.

I don't know if this is accurate, but eh.

NEW RECORD! I've gone through 10 albums since I woke up at...2 PM? It's now 11:30 PM about.

2 Mastodon albums, 5 Ajattara albums, and 3 Hella albums. All the Ajattara albums are rather short, while the Mastodon ones were medium-sized I think. Hella ones were fairly short, as well. Probably the only reason I hit 10 today in about 10 hours of not constantly listening to albums. I'm running out of really short, 40 minutes or less albums to go through, though, so I probably won't be able to break any new records after this for a long time (if ever)

Down to only 4 metal bands to go through, as well! Previously I was at like 12+ to go. All the ones left have a lot of songs though, but it's possible I'll remove some albums from the least, as well.

Edit: 16 LP's and 5 EP's! I need to go to bed...I was going to go for 17 but I can't make it...

Metalllica (the 4 albums recommended to me. Already gone through one), Isis, Godflesh, and Neurosis. I'm sure I could add others if I REALLY wanted to but I want to clear out as much as possible before 2014 where my life is going to be much more focused on school.
