I only have enough money for one purchase and I am torn between that one and The Rising Tide. I love both albums after listening to them on Spotify multiple times today...

I usually listen to Alternative Rock, Funk Metal, Grunge, and Progressive Rock, mostly the mainstream variety, but I do like some more underground guys like Giraffes? Giraffes! I usually listen to music by the album.

"Alternative rock" is a term that hasn't really meant anything since the mid 90s, and hasn't referred to anything "alternative" since the 80s. I think "funk metal" is shit like early RHCP (even though they're at all metal) and Living Color, definitely not my thing. "Grunge" is a vague term referring to sludgy bands from Seattle and surrounding environs that weren't quite sludge metal. "Progressive rock" is a pretty cool genre with 70s bands like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, etc and a zillion other things too (Wied is the major authority on it here).

Grunge is probably the one I know best. Like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden? One of my friends referred to a The Cranberries song I was listening to as Grunge once, too. But yeah, I definitely know about those bands....BECAUSE SEATTLE RADIO STATIONS WON'T FREAKING STOP PLAYING THEM.

Grunge is a combination of Punk and Grunge, it's not really a form of Sludge. And very little of what's popular today in Seattle is Grunge.

Anyway, Alternative Rock. If you don't have anything by Superchunk, The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr, the Pixies, or Husker Du; you need to change that fast.

I think you're forgetting the big one.

The one that Sucks.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

...
So many problems with what I am quoting here...hold up...

Faith No More is not only fantastic, but not even Funk Metal at all. Mike Patton is a god of vocals, first of all. Secondly, after The Real Thing, none of their albums even really had a hint of Funk. The three albums that followed were something of an Alternative Metal/Avant-Garde thing. And if you saw them live, jeez, you'd call them an Avant-Garde Metal band, because when they play Angel Dust music live, they sound like Fantomas with actual music.

Next, Primus are geniuses. I don't like all their albums, of course. Sailing the Seas of Cheese never really got to me, Frizzle Fry only has a couple good songs likewise, Antipop only had one good song, Brown Album was recorded with a 24-track potato, and Green Naugahyde was just plain boring. But overall they are a great band. Tales From The Punchbowl was a completely strong album with many great experimentations. Les Claypool is a master of the bass guitar and Larry Lalonde is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. Also, their lyrics can be good, such as the political innuendos used in American Life and Too Many Puppies. But for the most part I am not very fond of their lyrics.

And finally, Baroness and the Sword are masters of modern Doom Metal. Don't try and fuck me up the ass with the subgenres, I know Baroness is Progressive Sludge Metal and all that good stuff, but they are both masters of modern Doom Metal.
I really like music. Alot.
My band, Canzonette.

Well Volbeat seems nice band. (musically). I haven't paid attention to them much before despite hearing their songs on radio.

I like their new album. The Warrior's Call is really good, and that song featuring Barney from Napalm Death is too. Great they're getting some recognition here finally.
