Despite the fact I actually quite like some of Gotye, I do officially agree with my brother that Somebody That I Used To Know has become WAY overplayed. It was a rare occasion of a song that I like that played on the radio (though it took me a while to know if I liked it), same deal being with Alex Clare and AWOLNATION. My favorite Gotye song is probably Bronte, because it is so rare for you to hear a song so caring about someones pet that died, and I heard that song like, a few days after both of our dogs died....so it kinda hit hard.

I don't have a problem with Gotye, I have a problem with Somebody That I Used to Know. I heard it seven times during a roughly five hour period at work.

I actually kinda want to listen to his album but I'll probably vomit when I hear that song.

I do kinda like that radio station a bit, they play some Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins every once in a while. and it's shit from In Utero, not just Smells Like Teen Spirit 24/7.

but then shitty rap rock

they don't even have a set style they played Lady Gaga once then Soundgarden right after how does that work.

So you would lump Arch Enemy, Seether, and Black Veil Brides in the same genre :eyebrow:

Occasionally, I think. Breaking Benjamin would have been a much better example.
I really like music. Alot.

Ah, Black Veil Brides.

I knew some trolls who liked to troll the hell out of their fans. Quite honestly I could care less for them, though. They just seemed like another generic 'emo' band to me.

At least Motley Crue was tolerable. :p

Bands like BvB are what I'd call SS:DD bands.

Same shit, different day.

Aren't scene kids a distinct group, though? The ones who listen to Brokencyde and Blood on the Dance Floor and stuff like that?

Or am I getting my labels mixed up? Bah, no matter - I try not to spend any time on thinking about this stuff.

After all, ignorance is bliss!

What I meant I wasn't too keen on the stuff nowadays considered "emo," like Black Veil Brides and what not. Hence the quotation marks around it, although I guess I did get my terms mixed up there - forgive me on that one, my knowledge is a tad rusty or so since I've begun my splendid isolation.

But regardless of whether it's "scene" or "emo" (as in the aforementioned meaning) music, it's all crap to me anyway.

Do people actually consider BVB emo?

It's the commonly used label for such music, yep.

But, but, they're glam metal and metalcore!! That's incredibly far from emo!

Here's some new music to add to this thread that I don't think has been mentioned yet:
Maybeshewill. I like the guitar part that starts at around 2 minutes.
Dub Trio. I like a lot of what I've heard of these guys.
Dub Trio 2
Dub Trio 3

I haven't listened to enough of Maybeshewill yet.

I have associates who consider AC/DC emo.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.
