Drugs. Lots of them, if Velvet Cacoon is to be believed.

Because it's the mirror universe version of post rock?

Wouldn't that be post-black metal?

That reminds me...

Charmicarmicat wrote:"ambient black metal" being a retarded buzzword spouted by dilettantes and with no discernible meeting I post an ambient album by a black metal artist in the hopes of getting some elaboration.

Also, ambient/atmospheric black is good stuff too.

I prefer using word Atmospheric black metal. Because ambient is ambient. Ambient + black metal = atmospheric black metal.

So just now getting back into Mathcore and Avant-Garde mental. I know there pretty loose terms but eh still looking for some more artist in around those genres. So far I'm listening to bands like Coalesce, Botch, Psyopus, early Dillinger escape plan, Norma Jean and a few others but are there anymore? Like really good ones?

Nah, there's a bit of a difference(It ain't much though). For example, Velvet Cacoon and Darkspace are pretty different from Sear Bliss and Drudkh.

Well, Spiritualized is doing a special show performance of Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Outer Space with a full choir and orchestra. J Spaceman himself said that he never thought this would ever happen. I have to find a way to make it to this show.

Atmospheric is atmospheric. Ambient is ambient.

Metallum separates between the two.

It is possible to be atmospheric without being ambient. That is why those are two different genres.

What do you have against it other than how if a moderately metal band like Disturbed or Slipknot becomes too popular, Metallum dismisses it as mallcore and bans submissions of it, no matter how if one or more of their albums were metal?

The community is wretched, half of the time they're wrong about shit, and people take it as some sort of bible for metal when you can just as easily find out the same information on last.fm

Yes, but sometimes last.fm is off on genres, but more often than EM because EM is obsessed with purity.
I always go to both if I'm in doubt about a genre.

Metallum separates the two, I don't. For me ambient = atmospheric. If I REALLY want to see difference between ambient and atmospheric black metals, its' this: Ambient black metal has more ambient than black metal, atmospheric black metal has ambient on the background of the actual metal.

Also about metallum, sometimes genres aren't correct. For example it lists Ashes of Ares as progressive/power metal, but the songs aren't even close to progressive.

Shit man, Ladies and Genltemen is a classic. Top 10, maybe top 5 album of all time. It's probably one of the most cohesive and well-composed albums ever written.
