Yes. They are.

That doesn't mean you have to like them, though. Even if Band A that you hate is part of the same genre as Band B that you love, it doesn't really matter. It's not like you have to like every single band that plays rock.

Actually, we don't care. Gay and Queer have been taken as our words. They hold little weight on most of us.

Sorta.
I rather dislike them though, too repetitive.

Never heard em'.

I'm rather specialized when it comes to music. I tend to shut out anything that's not familiar.

I respected your opinion until you said they were unique sounding.

Me and my dad like to refer to bands like Nickelback and many others that sound similar to it as "Butt-Rock"

I like them, they have some great songs, some not so great, like the majority of other bands. Some people like them, some people hate them, like all other bands.
I dont like pop music or r'n'b that much but i dont go off complaining about it, because i have better things to do like listening to music i like.

Seriously, just because you don't like them does not mean they aren't Rock. They are Rock. Sorry, fella.

I never said i didn't like them. I'm just not that fond of them.
They are a mixture of Pop Alternative, and rock.
That is why i call them alternative.

Escape the Fate aren't post-hardcore. They're pop-punk with breakdowns, and neither pop-punk nor breakdowns are really relevant to post-hardcore.

By technicality, they are a pop-rock band...type...thing. I don't like 'em, and I don't know any one who does.

Nickelback is only a "rock" band in the way that the lead singer seems to have eaten mounds of gravel.
This was formerly a signature. One day, it may return to its splendid past. In the meantime, enjoy some pictures of my cats.

Rock covers a wide range of genres; Hard Rock, Alternative, Soft Rock, Pop Rock, Progressive, Rap Rock etc. and spawned many other genres, particularly metal.
Would you consider Linkin Park to be a rock band?

Alternative (different) from other genres of rock, it's like they couldn't think of a name for the genre so they called it alternative.

If I recall, it was an alternative to punk. People who liked the sound, the idea, but not the culture of it.

It's a stupid name. Classical's alternative to rock.

And the more cacophonous elements. If you want to look at the beginnings of alternative, R.E.M. was sort of the first band to solidify it. Have a look at their earliest stuff.

Not necessarily. Sonic Youth were more cacophonous than much of the punk that was contemporary to them.

It's not semantic. There are two genres called "post-hardcore" and they are pretty much completely unrelated. They sound nothing like each other.
