Yeah thanks Hasbro can't wait for the $30 reissue of G1 Combat Deck without Optimus Prime afterwards.

That's probably what they'll do, tbh.
I picked up POTP Darkwing yesterday. I love his color scheme, and the fact that he turns into an F-14 Tomcat, which is my favorite fighter jet.

He's more of a modified PanaviaTornado than a F-14.In fact I'd describe his jet like the results of a Tornado and a F-18E having a child.

The original G1 toy was modeled on a Tornado.

The new one is literally 'What G1 figure do you want to see reissued in 2020 at Walmart?' and the options are Perceptor, Astrotrain, Skywarp, and Thundercracker.

I think the only interesting option out of those would be Astrotrain but only if it was in the 1985 prototype colors which were used for the show and not American toy colors or Japanese release colors.

They are probably hoping for Skywarp or Thundercracker.... since they just need to dust off the SS mold again and use new colors.

I don't think three of them having QC issues is a 'consistent issue'.

The fact that any MP toys have quality-control issues worthy to note is concerning considering that they're meant to appeal to collectors and whatnot.

That is my growing issues.... prices are creeping towards high-end collector market prices and QC is creeping towards dollar store toy aisle quality. Not a good combination. In the last half of 2018 I have bought 3 times as many 3P figures as hasbro.... I can see at this rate that I likely may be only buying 3P in the future at some point if things don't change at Hastak.

That's true, but it still looks a lot like a misproportioned F-14.

Astrotrain was the winner, for the record.

I'm actually kind of glad it wasn't the seeker mold because like, that's not a good mold. And I don't mean 'oh it's aged poorly', even for the time it was released it's ass compared to other figures.

I don't own him yet but I didn't realize how much smaller the new Leader Magnus is compared to the old CW one.

I mean:
Image

(This isn't my pic, I stole it off a forum which stole it from another forum)

Luckily, despite the smaller size (which makes sense when you remember that the new Magnus is 'voyager-sized cab robot with armor that makes the full armored robot mode') the new one actually weighs more, 351 grams vs 346 grams.

Image

Which I suppose is good because I remember some of the complaints about the CW mold's hollowness and I'd take slightly smaller Leaders with the same amount of plastic if it means there's less hollow parts to the toy.

So I've just seen the Bumblebot movie and it's probably the third best Transformers movie. The story was all right, nice special effects, the girl wasn't as annoying as I thought she would be (and more likeable than Sam Witwicky). I liked the new robot modes as being more close to the G1 versions though it was a shame most scenes on Cybertron where in the first few minutes; I wanted to see more robots and Cybertron.

Nice details:
- Charlie has a Pretenders poster hanging in her room
- Agent Simmons already works at Sector 7
- 'Why should we trust them? They call themselves Decepticons!'
- all that concrete does indeed protect the Cube (and Megatron) from being detected from the outside and inside :p
- You've got the touch, you've got the power
- Optimus apparantly forgets where he parked his trailer when he leaves Earth between this movie and Transformers.

That's what you have to pay for the level of transformation involved.

Anyways I feel like Hasbro is taking the piss at charging $58 for Optimus Prime sans trailer mostly because like, the damn cab is basically deluxe-sized and has like fuck-all moving parts. I get that die-cast metal might add a bit more to the cost, but I feel like it should be $30 at MOST.

Yeah, $50 is way too much. I'm excited for the Warpath reissue that was announced. I hope it's $8, like the other Minibots.

Also, while I don't own him, based on the reviews, I'm probably gonna skip Siege Shockwave mostly because like...
he's hella small.

Seriously go check out some reviews of him, when he's just his normal robot mode, he's shorter than Voyager Megatron and even when he's all armored up, he's barely any taller. He gets bulkier though, but still I don't think I could justify paying $50 for what is effectively a Voyager with some add-on bits.

Yeah. I can't even justify buying Leaders. I saw some pics comparing him to G1 Megs and G1 Prime w/o the armor, and he's like their size.

Well good news if you've waited on getting the Vintage G1 figures in-store.

Hot Rod is now $15, Starscream is $17, and Devastator is $35.

Personally, I have other dumb shit to spend my money on but if I had extra, I legit would pick up a Hot Rod and Devastator.

Forgive me for being a little incredulous when I got MP Optimus Primal from HLJ for $90 without shipping yet Megatron is nearly three times that amount.

Are you forgetting that MP Beast Megatron is much larger than MP Optimus Primal?

IIRC Beast Megatron is literally the largest MP figure. (Unless Convoy 3.0 is bigger, I haven't read anything about that one's size yet though)

So apparently a local Walmart has the Hot Rod reissue marked down to FIVE DOLLARS.

Unfortunately, it's like over 8 miles from here and Brickseek says it has 'low stock' and I don't wanna have to drive eight miles for a CHANCE of getting a G1 Hot Rod for the cost of like a meal at McDonald's or something.

Instead I'm gonna keep watch to see if the closest one to me ends up discounting it to $5 too.

That'd be great. Siege Hound arrived, and he is an awesome figure. His joints are nice and tight, and he has great proportions.
