HP however is creative and entertaining.

I just wish they would keep the movies close to the text.

When I was a tween I was reading the Shannara series after I'd gone through Lord of the Rings. There is no excuse.

Now HP has some sense in it. It's basically the British Wizarding version of the German Resistance versus the Nazis, especially in the later books.

The Dark Mark is essentially the Death Eater's Nazi Swastika.
The Death Eaters (Nazis) see all Muggles and Muggle-borns (Non-Aryans--Jews, Slavs, Gypsies...) as scum.

Damn, DH1 really makes you think at some point "Is this Nazi Wizarding World?"

Are you kidding? HARRY POTTER! Read chapter 33 in Deathly Hallows. That one chapter has more heartbreak than four entire Twilight books.

I really can't stand twilight. I don't think the acting is any good at all and I didn't enjoy the story. Harry Potter would win hands down any day! The books are amazing

I've heard of the shannara Series, but have not read it, however I have gone through Everything Tolkien including the Silmarillion(when I was 13-14), Chronicles of Narnia, and Robert Jordan's wheel of Time Series.

Point being, Harry Potter Hands down, I've read all of the books multiple times and they are still entertaining even though I'm now beyond the reading level. It's unfortunate that the movies deviate so much.

Not having read Twilight, I can confidently vote for Harry Potter on Twilight's reputation alone.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Except for the part where he is a pedophile, stalker and would be murderer with all the social skills and personality of a sociopath. As I explained here, I'm on Potters team for this one, either the one with the lightning scar or that other student wizard that's a tad nerdy and likes to faint with the same name which appeared in the 1986 movie Troll.

I despise the fact that Twilight is constantly compared to Harry Potter.

Harry Potter wins, no discussion. Having been forced to endure the mind-rotting garbage of Stephanie Meyer in college and correct the teenage twilight fantasy wanks my students try and pass off as short stories in my daily english classes, I would go as far to say that I would be perfectly fine with having my brain bleached in an attempt to wipe the badly written spew from my memory for ever.

Why is this even up for debate? There is no rational reason for these two series to be paired together. Is it because they're both fantasy? If so, why not go HP or Percy Jackson? Or HP and Fablehaven? Both of the series I just mentioned are excellent YA fantasy series. As is Harry Potter. Twilight is shit.
Edit: Why you be digging?
