I had a game with my team being all lighter tanks (BatChat 25t, WT E100, T57, etc..) and the enemy team being nothing but juggernauts (Maus, JgPz E100, FV215 (183), etc..) which was fine, expect that we were on an urban map....

doesn't help when they think they are playing sonic and run straight into the enemy tanks, fail to pen with most of their shots, get hit in return and then leave me in my king tiger to hold off the approaching enemy which they can outrun.

Have I mentioned how much I hate "Scout" matchmaking?

The ELC is so much better than the AMX 12t, if ONLY for the fact that it can actually deal with tier 9 tanks (sort of/not really) whereas the AMX 12t can't hold a candle to tier 10.

I mean, seriously, as if an AMX 12t is as capable of facing tier 10 as an AMX 13 90 rite? It's a great tank at/around its tier, but I am motherfucking TIRED of constantly seeing tier 9s and 10s.

So confrontation only balances by nation, not by tier and type?

No, that's not how it works. In Confrontation you have teams whose vehicles are all from one nation, for example a French team versus a British team, and which are also balanced by tier & type. It's not as if you're suddenly going to have to fight a team composed of Maus tanks while driving your KV-1.

Sounds fun.
I wish it would come to the Xbox, so all could be reminded of British Superiority.

I really like the 38(t).

Unfortunately, I'll have to grind through the 38(na) soon to move up through the German tech-tree. I'm really not looking forward to that...

It really doesn't take long. And the 5cm once you unlock it is actually really good. I got a Kolobonov's medal in the nA.

I dunno...

I usually suck playing scout-tanks. And with an average XP gain per battle of under 300 (which will probably be even lower for the 38(na)), I'm looking at some 100-odd battles to unlock the Hetzer and Panzer IV. And spending that amount of time playing a tank I'm not interested in is not exactly something I'm looking forward to.

As for the gun, I was actually looking at the 4.7 cm. instead. Foregoing the upgraded turret will save a fair deal of weight - meaning more speed to get the hell out of Dodge whenever a tier eight tank gets close - and the difference in penetration between the guns is not that great. Especially considering that I'll probably spend most of my time with HE-shells loaded.

The only advantage I can see in the upgraded turret is the increased view-range. But it's still not much compared to the kind of tanks I'll be fighting alongside and, in any case, I don't feel like mounting optics, cam-netting, etc. on a tank I've no intention of keeping any longer than strictly necessary.

and so far I have 0% win ratio in that thing
it seems the gods do not want me to get that tank.

are there any other good tanks at tier5?
another thing, how do the jap tanks play, I've noticed they have ridic. gun depression but is that all?

Well, I kinda like the KV-1. It's utter * biiiiiib * though, until it's almost fully upgraded. Also, it opens up for the KV-2 which is just hilarious to play.

Sometimes you just come across a tank that simply does not suit your play-style. In that case, research what you need and then move on.

As for the KV-1, you really need to get a better engine and suspension on it as soon as you possibly can. Without those you're a sitting duck. Once that is done, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to weapons. Personally, I swear by the 85 mm gun which has a punch even a tier seven tank must respect. But I have also seen the 57 mm (machine)gun and the 122 mm (troll)gun used to good effect.

Tactically, my behaviour changes radically depending on the battletier of the current match. At battletier five, the KV-1 is a monster, able to simply roll over many of the lighter tanks it meets while remaining a severe threat to other tier five heavies. At battletier seven, on the other hand, it's somewhat vulnerable so I tend to hang back, operating behind the main line and letting the bigger tanks lead the charge while sniping at targets of opportunity.

Also, the new crew skills are a Godsend. Especially of-road driving and clutch-breaking, both of which will help increase the maneuverability of your tank.

Do always keep in mind though, that you're rather slow. You cannot easily get out of trouble, so situational awareness is paramount. Watch out for tanks flanking you.

The T-80 was great

I used to drive around with the gun at max elevation.
