I like 'Who the Fuck is Alice'

I didn't really like 'Wasting Light', the Foo Fighter's new album.

I think The Rolling Stones were pretty rip off-ish and a lot of their stuff was poor.

I love that fucking riff.

That is my all-time favorite Mastodon song. It's an excellent track, nothing to be ashamed of...

To most extreme metalheads, listening to Mastodon is like listening to Green Day.

Not acceptable. I still love it.

The only thing I can think of is when I was a senior in high school, I was offered a center, 26th row ticket to U2's Joshua Tree tour & I turned it down because I though the band sold out with that album. Although U2 is far from my list of favorites, I have to admit that the Joshua Tree is a good album & I should have gone instead of staying home to get high with my friends.

I'm not sure that's completely true. Green Day is a mainstream pop punk band, while Mastodon is a critically acclaimed progressive metal band. I think it's obvious which one is more "acceptable" to so-called "extreme metalheads"

Honestly, you shouldn't worry about what anyone else likes, and what is "acceptable" I'm not ashamed of any music I listen to.

I am very ashamed to admit that:
I somewhat like Nickelback.
I LOVE Dido's singing.
I think Eminem is one of the greatest rappers ever.
Green Day's only good album is American Idiot.
I love Chris Isaak's music, especially Wicked Game.
I love Abba.
I really like Bryan Adams' music.
I hate U2, except the song Beautiful Day.
And I love everything James Blunt has made.
I love Adele's music,
I can recognize almost every a-ha song within 5 seconds.
And my favorite Mando Diao song is The Shining

Sweet's 'Ballroom Blitz' is a song to which I could listen to for two straight weeks.
I'm currently conducting a rather sordid affair with piano-driven indie pop.
I'm a sucker for 3/4 time.
I'll listen to any genre. Anything.
I secretly believe that everything sounds better on my ancient single speaker radio.

Some people like to make music. Some people like to make noise. Merzbow and Whitehouse create non-musical sound art. It's not music. It's intentionally not music. It is however still artistic and creative and can be interesting and enjoyable to listen to.

Grindcore however is music, it's just fast and aggressive punk with harsh vocals.

Noise music is still music.

Some more:

Nickelback is not that bad. Deal with it.
I really like Creed. Like, I REALLY like Creed. Fuck you.
I'm glad Opeth is moving on from their Death music.
Green Day isn't too bad.
I like the Goo Goo Dolls.
I hate all uber-Metal-elitists.
I like Jimi Hendrix's voice.
I despise Amy Winehouse.
Next to St. Anger, Kill Em All was Metallica's weakest album. It still was great, though.
Nirvana is my least favorite of the mainstream Grunge bands.
I really like Guns N' Roses' new music.
I love the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal.
I like a few Suicide Silence songs.
I don't love Les Claypool's voice, but the music is so amazing I deal with it.
I'd prefer if Claypool more often used the style he used on "Have A Cigar".
I reiterate: I love Mallcore.

Plus, Blackwater Park was most definately not the last album before deciding to prog out. Harvest, off Blackwater Park, was their first song with no unclean vocals. Their next album, Deliverance, was their heaviest to date. Afterwards, Damnation, was where they progged out.

Deliverance and Damnation were meant to be a double album, though, so Damnation should have been written around the time of Deliverance. They basically tried to please everyone.

The worst thing Opeth ever did was let Axenrot drum for them full-time. He has no sense of dynamics.
