Sphere(book)

a strange book at best. I liked it. But what would you do in the context of the book? I would do the following:
1.cover my bases so I can't be hurt by other people with the sphere power
2.transport everyone into the spacecraft.

It's been about 8 years since I read that book, but IIRC it was a very interesting read for me. I can't even remember most of the details. Who was it that had power over it again?
