DUDE
That image is the ONLY way I can sum up your work, it's like a fusion of all the best painting styles I've seen in museums was fused together, along with my favorite artist, Van Gogh.
Keep up the good work bro. Though I personally prefer the first ones in the OP, such as the No. 8, Into the Jungle, Good Shepard, Empty Handed Painter, etc. You rock the abstract and vauge, though, it's purely personal, I dislike your more realistic works, such as the vampire, zombie, etc.
Just get a brush, listen to planet caravan, and paint aimlessly and you might steal a job from a legendary abstract artist.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Hey thanxs mate i'm glad you enjoyed them. I always find it interesting what people think of my paining and which ones in particular they like. Sometimes i'm just surprised when i'll bring in a few paintings to my class for critique, and which ones people focus on and which ones they have little to say about. Most people tend to really like a particular style and then not really care for another, I put my paintings up on FB too and it's always one group of friends liking a particular style, and another group liking another. Sometimes the painting in the group I think is or like best, isn't commented on, and the one that I either disliked or was frustrated with people really liked. lol

I've taken a ton of Art History classes, and they have had a large influence on my work, I have defiantly re-adapted different aspects I liked in their paintings into mine. I will often try working in different style, if you look at certain paintings and you have some knowledge of Art History, you will be able to see paintings clearly done in the style of famous painters, and from there as you said try an create "a fusion of all the best painting styles". Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Salvador Dalí, Umberto Boccioni, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Henri Matisse, Botticelli are just a handful of my favorites. :D I will also take certain painting subject matter/scenes or stories that past painter's would paint. Such as this one i'm working on now of the story of Apollo and Daphne, I'm painting Daphne in the moment of turning into a tree, which if you google search you will find numbers of painter who have painted this same scene differently. Another one I started but haven't gotten back to is of Saint Francis preaching to the birds. And The Good Shepard was loosely based off of a Byzantine mosaic.

I would have to agree with you whole heartily about the abstract vs realistic. Abstract painting has always come really naturally, The No. 8 is probably one of my best works and one of my most liked works. And the picture I have up doesn't even do it justice to see it in person. I've always struggled a bit will making things look "photo" real, it is defiantly an area I have been working on lately, such as with the Zombie and Vampire, although I wouldn't consider them photo realistic, it is my effort at a stepping stone. What I'd like to be able to do better is Portraits. But I have been meaning to do another water color painting like No.8, It's probably one of my better paintings, and I did it in a single class (3.5hrs-ish), where as the Zombie Paining took closer to 30hrs, Vampire was 8 or 9hrs, Guy Fawkes maybe 15hrs-ish.

I have about 6-7 paintings i'm working on now, one's basically done but i'm probably gona add something new in it, most are about 80-50% done, I probably would have finished a few sooner, but lately every painting class we've had a model and started a new painting, so I got 3-4 model paintings on top of the other 3 i'm working on out side of class. So I will likely be putting up close to a painting a week for the next several weeks.

Yea, but not spray paint or any other paint commonly used in spray / splatter art, I use a technique I developed for Oil paints, where I thin out/dilute the paint using alot of turpentine (I use turpeniod a non-odor variation), and gently blow on the brush so it creates the spray effect (varying distance and force creating different sprays). This done in layers with various colors to create the image.

And yes if your wondering this process does leave me light headed and with paint on my chin.

Ah now that i've finished up finals, I can finally get around to posting some of these. Here's
a few works I did this term. I have 5-8 more paintings I will be posting within the week, some minor touch ups to do still.

For this first one I have yet to come up with a name, i'm open to suggestions! :)

Here's three more I just finished up.

My first real go at a full blown self portrait. I had been building up to this for a while. It was my goal this term to complete, I took a British portraiture class, figure drawing, and Painting II. Certain paintings like the Vampire & Zombie, Guy Fawks, were all preparations steps towards this piece. I didn't plan to do it monochromatic originally, but did it so it could count towards a class requirement. I plan to do the next one in color, but all and all I think it turned out pretty good.

December 2011 monochromatic Oil 24x18
Image

This is one i've been working on a while now. It's a scene from the story of Apollo and Daphne. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_and_Daphne
Started awhile back in early 2010, painted in Acrylic at first, then later in 2011 with oil. I've reorganized it several times, I had Apollo in their twice, in different positions but I could never be happy with his placement till I realized he should just be removed all together. The tree / Daphne went through changes too, I originally had her more human than tree in the process of her turning into a tree. But each time I went back to work on it I made her more and more treelike. This is the only painting I've finished with both Acrylic & Oil paint on the surface.

2010-2011 Acrylic & Oil 14x11

Also one more of these I finished up! :D I made ten in total still have 2 to finish and I may redo/edit another aswell.

Hey, Neo—I dig the collage self portrait and monochrome portrait. Nice work. The monochrome brought to mind Dali's Buñuel.

Here are three more i've finished up recently.

I re-worked the monochromatic
Image
I did last year into a Collage version. Kinda taking on a nature theme, it's a rather large pic so you loose some of the subtext to the image. As using nature magazines each peice is also an image, chosen for color, texture, hiding little things here and there.

February 2012 Collage / minor Origami 26x20
Image

Larger Pic - http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/8405 ... 801045.jpg

This one is also a sort of self-portrait, I haven't really come up with a name yet. It ended up turning out different then I had planned. Orginally I was going to call it "Dust in the Wind" and have the figure (me) apart to be 'dissolving' into sand in the wind, but after I got started I became fond of this more simplified image which means something else. So i'm not sure i'm keeping that tittle will work, if you have a suggestion let me know!

February 2012 Oil 11x14
Image

Lastly is this one, a rather older piece that I finally got around to completing. Partly inspired by the Gorillaz song 'Happy Land Fill'. It was orginally something else entirely, was a purely abstract work, then while painting I heard this song and thought the image I had was a bit of a landfill, so I shift to add the brown mounds, and inputted a slightly cartoon-a-fied version of myself and two friend as if we were much older and in such a place.

Dude...this stuff is just AWESOME. The Anonymous paintings almost got uncreative, but you really made them work after you first posting of them and that self portrait could be on an album cover, seriously! All the other stuff is sick too, that's just what stood out to me.

You sir truly deserve the title ARTIST   .

:) Yea I love the Beatles, alot of my artwork is inspired by them.

Here's a few more recent paintings, plus a sculpture;

"Peirre the cat" July 2012 Oil 12x9
A painting I did for my friend's birthday of her cat. A re-working of Pierre Bonnard's 'The White Cat'
Image

"Formation of Light and Dark" 2012 Oil 16x20
This is one painting I did when I was playing with the notion of light and dark (my paintings 'Creep' and 'The Fork ran away with the spoon' are as well). This one is about they way that one defines and in turn creates the other.
Image

"Untitled" 2012 Oil 14x11
A simple piece, I have yet to tittle, I welcome suggestions! :)
Image

"But I am of the Universe" 2012 Oil 14x11 (Self Portrait)
Image

"St Francis Preaching to the Birds" 2010-2012 Acrylic & Oil 8x10
An older piece I finally got around to finishing. My version of a scene that has been done alot throughout Art History (my paintings "The Tree" and "The Good Shepard" are as well).
Image

"My little sisters the birds, ye owe much to God, your Creator, and ye ought to sing his praise at all times and in all places, because he has given you liberty to fly about into all places; and though ye neither spin nor sew, he has given you a twofold and a threefold clothing for yourselves and for your offspring. Two of all your species he sent into the Ark with Noe that you might not be lost to the world; besides which, he feeds you, though ye neither sow nor reap. He has given you fountains and rivers to quench your thirst, mountains and valleys in which to take refuge, and trees in which to build your nests; so that your Creator loves you much, having thus favoured you with such bounties. Beware, my little sisters, of the sin of ingratitude, and study always to give praise to God."

"Self Portrait - Wire Me" March 2012, 200ft(ish) of Wire (+ black cloth) 1.5 ft(ish) tall
One of my few sculptural pieces I did for a mixed media class.
