Napoleon: Total War, What are your three favorite factions?

Postby Dorpokleke » Thu May 12, 2011 3:37 pm

Because of the Uniforms:

1. Kingdom of Sardinia (I like the Italian Campaign uniforms and the Europe Campaign uniforms)

2. Hessen

3. Papal States

Just Overall:

1. Prussia (They start off at peace with everyone and they have a lot of resources which I like)

2. Papal States

3. Bavaria

None, because I don't like the way the Total War series is going and thus didn't get Napoleon.

Damn this "All factions get the same unit except one or two different Infantry/Cavalry" bullshit, that went out of style right after Age of Empires.

First, wrong forum.

Second, didn't like Napoleon as much as empire.

Third, the Shogun 2 is better.

I am sorry, but I really disagree with you . You have surely not tried the game because every faction is unique in its own way.

Well, I mean if you like sword fighting, but Napoleon has a bigger map and more factions.

I played Empire. I decided that whatever bullshit they were going to come out with next ("Stand alone expansion pack"? WTF?) simply would not be worth it.

Listen have you played Napoleon? Because it does not sound like you have. Empire is nothing like Napoleon, I have played both.

I'm not willing to shell out another $20 for doing what they should have done originally, even if it is better than Empire enough to justify it (Which I'm not convinced it is)

What! There was almost no variety in units, just one big map in Empire.

I felt the same way about a year ago. But then after failing at them so many times I finally got the hang of it. Really though the mods are what make the game. They GREATLY and I mean GREATLY improve gameplay.

EDIT: Assuming you still have ETW I suggest these mods both come with installers so it shouldn't be much of a problem installing them.

You should just download a demo for free and try it.

I'm inept at following file trails. In GMod I have maybe 3-4 add-ons not from the Toybox, yet well over a hundred downloaded and attempted to use. :(

The few that use install/.exe files don't work for me usually.

I played the demo. I didn't even care that unique units were lacking, because OH MY GOD THE COMBAT IS NERDGASMIC!

Also, I see beautiful modding potential for the level-up system for your Generals and Agents. Not that I'll ever be able to use them, mind. :p

See my edit, both use very simple installers. Just follow the instructions the install destinations are found by the installer program so you dont have to search around for the right folder. (When mods first come out it sucks to install it manually I know) I think you'd like them, especially DMCU.

You are so right mods do improve gameplay. I use a mod called Napoleon Total Factions, it is the best it lets me play as any faction.

NOW just came out a few weeks back. So far its really good. The only thing I dont understand is the units dont form ranks they shoot like a irregular unit (all shoot at once without ranks, ie: in between each other)
