So, the map had to be reactivated? That didn't seem to be implied by the "The Cutie Re-Mark"...

The map is a great excuse for shipping, it truly is. Especially self-shipping.

Rarity, you might be an artist, but you aren't quite the free spirit Pinkie Pie is.

Cardinal Rule of Elitism: It's always worse than they say it is.

Hmm. An obvious pseudo-Indian restaurant. This is going to be the second episode in a row they're making jabs at globalization!

Watch, Le Critique Reputee is going to just destroy the place's uniqueness...

...If the fashionista doesn't do it for her.

Pinkie and the daughter, they're doing it right. Too bad they only got the most adventurous ponies.

I'd had hope they'd just limit the conformance to the decor...

Whatever you do, don't. Spill. The. Food.

So it looks like all the restaurant really needed was Rarity's persuasive charm? :eyebrow: I guess actually not worrying too much about the fate of the business also helps and cooking with love...

Good choice on the writer's part to not convert the critic. It would have diminished the theme of "think for yourself" by implicitly endorsing her opinion.

Now we gotta wonder, what's a tire company's business in telling us what to eat? Well, to increase the demand for cars by singling out restaurants as "worth a special journey," but still. Who'd purchase a car just to go to a fancy restaurant five hundred miles away?

Well, it wasn't as spicy as I hoped, but the service was okay.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

So, since it's been a week and the episode is airing by the time this is posted, I figured I'd finally get around to reviewing Flutter Brutter before the next wave of reviews sweeps in.
You know when you get that feeling that something is going to be terrible, right in the pit of your gut? You know that?
Well I surprisingly didn't feel that with this episode. Maybe the prospect of an asshole entitled freeloader adult sibling getting their just desserts was a bit enticing for me, as you can see by the plentiful adjectives that I went through a similar situation with my (half)sister. Hell, my mom actually moved out because my dad couldn't work up the courage to kick her (my sister) out. Long story short, she finally went to a shrink and got her mental health together, but blah blah blah backstory and stuff. Basically, I was looking forward to the way it would pan out.
One thing I'd like to point out is that this episode from the very beginning was delightfully non-cringy, unlike how a lot of the episodes have been recently. (Ok, maybe just Newbie Dash, but it's still gripeable dammit.) Anyways, on to the show.

We start with a cheery lunch with Fluttershy's parents, who we get to see for the first time in the entire series. *and a thousand fanfic writers wept over the loss of their orphan Fluttershy stories* What we also see is that compared to them, Fluttershy has the assertiveness of a Minotaur. She really did get it honestly.
On the bright side, we get to see that after 5 or so repetitions, her character development has finally taken. Good to know that she isn't become Tabula Rasa every time the writers run out of filler plotlines this time. Have they finally broken the streak? Will Fluttershy ever make it past slot number six seven on my Mane 6 7 ranking? Only time will tell.

Ok, let me just say: Brutter (that's what I'm calling him because I can't remember his name for the life of me) hitting on Rainbow Dash is downright hilarious. It's beautiful; everything from how low-key it is to the fact that it's in a KID'S CARTOON to the way RD blows him off while simultaneously being disgusted and without even acknowledging him is just *tries not to imitate the 'Just Right' meme and fails* perfect.

"I'm sorry, I'm just so... peeved right now!"
By the way everyone's acting, I'd have thought she said 'FUCKING PIIIIIIIIIISSED', which actually keeps the balance of humor and drama flowing quite nicely. Kudos.

Ohhh, his name's 'Zephyr Breeze'. He sounds like a bad OC.
Aaaaaaaaaand I've already forgotten his name.

Pinkie's humor, when done well, is hilarious and brings light and laughter into the show. I say 'when done well', because the writers haven't exactly been doing that lately. I miss well-written Pankus. (Hey, if Flutters' character development sticks and Ponku continues not being funny, Shy Horse may ascend to slot number six.)

Wait, someone offered a helpful solution and it's actually being acted upon? And this early in the episode??? Is this even FiM????????
Wait, I'm gonna call it: Fluttershy is going to try to kick him out and the parents are going to be pushovers and make him stay. Damn.

Ooooooor he's just going to be a manipulative whorse and guilt his parents into staying.
...that's surprisingly true-to-life, actually. Kudos to the writers for providing conflict without making everybody act illogically. It shows they're taking a big step in plot development.
[literally 30 seconds later] Wait, he actually moved out? Dayum, I didn't expect that in the least. But now he's at Flutters' door, to which I have to say "SLAM IT IN HIS FACE!" But she isn't going to, is she. (I'd slam it in his face.)

Dear lord, this is like an exact retelling of getting my freeloading sister out of the house. With ponies.
I love it.

Ok, I'll admit it: Zephyr is kinda like me. If I see an easy way out, I'll take it. But at least I'm smart enough to know when something isn't working and make it work.
I think.

It's official: Zephyr is a manipulative whorse. I'm going to skip over a portion of this, because it seems pretty obvious what's coming. M͔̭̱̱ͫ̓Û͓͍̖͍̓̊ͩͮͯ̚̕͝͞ͅͅR̥̈̅ͯ́D͚͚̟̘͉̋ͪ͆͆̐E̅͊̒͏͈̩̼͖͓͖Ŗ̡̧̘̻͆ͨͩ̿͋͌͐̾ (Or Rainbow just saying a flat "fuck off" to Zephyr. Either one works.)

"I mean, you guys have saved Equestria like a dozen times."
FINALLY SOMEONE ACKNOWLEDGES IT! Gosh, it's like half the ponies in Equestria don't know who keeps saving them from certain doom every 3 months.

And a shoehorned-in song to montage off the episode. So this is FiM. Good, I thought I accidentally changed the channel.

Overall, I didn't mind the episode. It was funny, the plot wasn't bad, and there were no moments of cringe. I'd say that makes for a pretty good episode.

Well, that was late. At least I actually watched the episode, instead of letting it sit in my to-do list eternally. (I still have yet to watch On Your Marks.)

...That new episode was tragic in every sense of the word. It's been some time since Rarity was so grossly mischaracterized. If anybody would understand that, that which is unique must stand out, it would be her. This has been established many times. Just as bad as last week's 180 on a proper Applejack episode, in which she solved the problem, but also turned out to be the problem in the first place.

I don't like Season 6's writing staff. I really, really don't.

I liked it. The songs and music was great. Rarity and Pinkie Pie were great. It was pretty funny to seem them give the owners of The Tasty Treat advice opposite from each other. The new characters were great. The moral was great. It's also nice to see the map working again, meaning that we could be seeing some new places in the second half. 8/10

I'd counter that
Since she is not in the restaurant business she's more inclined to listen to others than realize what happened in her own situation. She probably wouldn't find the clothes and food industry to be similar enough for her own experience to matter, [not that she's right mind you]

As for my view

Enjoyed it quite a lot enjoyed seeing the seeming status quo of Canterlot even if it's just the restaurant scene. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!

My only complaint (not that anything could be done about it probably as it would most likely require permission from a certain someone, as well as not being suitable for children) is to see the Gordon Ramsey pone chew out the old fart of a critic.

He does have a point--"Canterlot Boutique" definitely showed that she simply cannot be without being unique. But of course, compartmentalized thinking tends to happen with many people. Further, Rarity is a trendsetter herself, so that also weighs into her deference for those that do dictate taste.

I'd say the characterization was problematic, but not so grossly so to make her unrecognizable.
