Which anime are you watching or have watched recently II?

Life pushed me to watch the entirety of AIR the Anime adaption today. (Yes, that AIR.)

And that became the first time an Anime or Manga almost succeeded with having me shed my tears. Curse KEY and their trend in making Tear Jerkers.

Did you watch both the series and the movie? How about the In Summer specials?

I... kinda missed the Specials. Will get to that right away.

EDIT: Um, the movie... yeah. I guess it's made by different people, since the artistic style is not the same; but most of all: THE SHEER AMOUNT OF LIGHT! IT BLINDS!

This, in a sense, although for a practical matter, what Ameri says doesn't matter. He thinks almost everything sucks, and based on the reasons he's given, I assumed that Gurren Lagaan, a show he actually liked, wouldn't be to my liking.

Dropping Magical Warfare. Despite an OK beginning and an interesting premise (and, I'll admit, reasonably attractive character designs), it failed to make the most of it and ultimately doesn't work.

It could have been good, though. Have Takeshi, Isoshima, and Ida interact with other magicians besides Mui, and have them learn about magic and the Ruined World through their interactions rather than simply expository lectures. Have the students talk about what Communities they want to join after graduation, or talk about how their families back home are coping with the war. Give us some insight into Community politics and inter-Community relations by how the characters act. Make it feel like the world is actually at war: show tensions between students of different Communities, have the rumor mill talk about how battles are progressing outside, SOMETHING to show us that, hey, this is not our world, there's a war going on, people are dying, and the stakes are high. Dumping exposition on the fish out of water isn't bad per se, but it needs to be done well. They're the lens through which we see the Ruined World, after all.
