[Destructive Government Economic System]

Can't really say anything much other than the fact that U7 is getting trampled by not just Jiren, but even Toppo and Dyspo as well. Vegeta is starting to look stronger than Goku (though I did note that Goku was tired at the time) without his ultra instinct, since he was initially able to read some of Jiren's movements and even land a couple of nice hits in (Jiren even gave a surprised face during their little fight), but he, as expected, got taken out at the very end. My personal favorite part of this episode was Frieza's taunts toward Dyspo before, literally, eating the dirt as a result.

U7 is likely going to give U11 a better fight in the next episode, as we get to see Vegeta's "new power" after watching the preview. I don't think that it's gonna be ultra instinct omen like Goku's form, since I don't think Vegeta is very into dodging stuff. And like Vegeta even said: "Kakarot can keep his ultra instinct."

Vegeta just pushed the Goku button. He shouldn'ta did that! Seriously, Jiren didn't seem to get serious until after Vegeta made the crack about Goku. I gotta say though, I am both surprised and pleased that Vegeta was NOT knocked out of the ring this episode. I was halfway expecting Vegeta to be the sacrificial lion to further amp up how dangerous Jiren is; thankfully thus far they seem to have decided that eps 109-110 did that job plenty already! All in all, a nice solid opening for the grand finale. I gotta say, I thorough enjoyed watching Frieza throwing shade and then promptly having his smug attitude thrown square in his face about the tail thing. That honestly cracked me up. ^_^ The animation was on point too, the whole thing just looked absolutely fantastic.

Oh man, this episode was great. Jiren's semi-serious power look epic and sounded epic, and I really enjoyed Goku's destructo disk troll move that nearly knocked Jiren out of the ring. Only thing I have to complain about this episode is Toppo. Some episodes ago, he said "no more justice, for it's either erasure or survival" to Dyspo, and yet he brings up the "justice" catch phrase again while fighting Gohan and No. 17.

Currently wondering which part of the episode was my favorite: Jiren showing off his insane aura after nearly getting eliminated by Goku, or the fact that Vegeta thought of Cabba (and not his family for once) right before turning into... what form is it even called? Mastered Super Saiyan Blue? His new form doesn't seem to be that effective on Jiren, so I doubt it's ultra instinct. Completely glad that Vegeta gets something unique for himself, though I do worry that he'll likely gain another new form in the future, because yet again, his current new form doesn't look very effective on Jiren (seems to be on par with Goku's SSB Kaioken). Hopefully it won't be ultra instinct.

Super's pretty decent post episode 27. But we all know that you're a member of the anti-fun police.

I really started enjoying the show and it's fights around Copy-Vegeta honestly. The choreography and work they put in for that fight was surprisingly good, and then the initial battle between Trunks and Black really kicked it into overdrive.

1) Goku you technique-stealing son of a bitch. You managed to steal my own friggin' fancharacter's technique! (Seriously, my fancharacter Stellry's Shotgun Meteor is basically identical to that minefield thing Goku used on Jiren, minus the elaborate setup. XD)
2) #TEAMVEGETA BITCHES!!

Overall, this was a really solid episode, with freakin' awesome pacing, framing, dynamics, and all that good stuff. Especially right at the end when Goku and Vegeta both go on the attack. Like, they're actually working together except they don't work together and that's throwing Jiren off his groove because he expects actual coordination, not... whatever those two do! XD

Sadface that it sounds like Gohan's dropping out next week though. I would have pegged 17 going out before him. (Unless the title for next week is a lie, which certainly could be possible. HYPE IS REAL!

Speaking of #TeamVegeta, this is happening next week. Should be lulzy!

Annoying, but not especially uncommon for long-running series these days. I'd rather a series take a breather than try and keep going continuously and lead to a flood of subpar filler material. Super's kept a nice balance between main arcs and fun but not filler-y cooldown episodes to give a breather between the major arcs, I'd rather it be able to maintain that balance than go into full-blown filler-flavor arcs.

Sad. But understandable. The animation crew is going to work entirely on the movie.

Here's hoping the movie does well! If it does well, Super is almost certainly going to come back. Plus it gives the English dub time to catch up. Which I'll have to start watching because the Trunks arc starts soon. Which I really liked despite my dislike of time travel arcs.

Solid episode, though not quite as badass awesome as 123 was. I am really enjoying the way they're pacing the three simultaneous battles and cutting back and forth between them. It makes sense, given that these battles are not happening one at a time or entirely independent of one another. Really enjoying the character interaction, too. Gohan and Frieza's teamwork was intriguing, and while I'm disappointed Gohan is out, that wasn't a bad way to do it. Though... did Frieza honestly run out of steam on his energy cage trick, or did he fake it-? I could kinda see it going either way honestly.

And oooh shit, that stinger for 125. Methinks 17 is going out next week, and that Chekov's Gun is about to fire regarding Frieza figuring out how to contain/redirect that energy Sidra gave the assassin prior to the tournament.

And over in dub land, OMG so relieved that it seems like Black's voicework in XV2 was NOT indicative of how he would be actually voiced in the series. (Granted, SSJR Black's voice in XV2 fit the character well, but didn't really have enough of Goku's voice in it, y'know?) Schemmel absolutely nails it in Black's intro in the dub; sounds enough like Goku but the inflection and stuff is juuuust off enough to make him sound suitably creepy. So freakin' excited to get to this arc in the dub finally- soon I'll be able to bounce ideas off my sis and maybe do something with that fanfic plot bunny I've had gnawing on me for months now!

Enjoyed episode 124. Solid like 123 (though 123 was still better to me), and Gohan went out using his great strategic thinking. Looks like the haters can't complain about him being a "weakling" at the very end.

The preview for the next episode, though...

Can't wait. Toppo begins to actually show off the power that made him a God of Destruction candidate. Even taking off his shirt to show his seriousness. 17 is almost guaranteed to be the next one knocked out, though I do suspect that it could be Frieza (because Toppo clearly doesn't stand people like him). The preview already looks more epic than the entirety of episode 124, and that's saying something...

God of Destruction Toppo? It doesn't sound much like a "godly" name, but it's the power that counts. Hopefully he'll deliver well on that.

Also, the entire stream was so stupid it was amazing. XD I kinda wish I'd made the drive to watch in person, but... *cringe* LA to OC on a Thursday afternoon, it would have been at least 3 hours one way. And speaking of FighterZ, my download just finished, so that sounds like "Time for Reppy to get her shit rekt so bad it makes Sean look good at the game." (For those who don't know, I have been utter garbage at fighting games for 20+ years. While I may very well stick with FighterZ long enough to git gud, there is going to be a lot of getting my ass kicked before that happens!)

As someone who's been playing for the past few hours, here's some advice.

Do the combo training. IT's there for every character and helps you figure out the best way to play and which characters you'll like.

The game is VERY kind about the tutorial and will often give you mission to keep you refreshed on how to do certain things. I'm like 4 hours in and it still gives me the starting lesson just to reinforce it! It's by far the most intuitive fighting game I've ever played.

Well, went through all the tutorials, tried Arcade mode, and played a couple of matches online before I had to give my sore thumb a rest. Much to my surprise given the aforementioned "Rep is garbage at fighting games", I'm currently 2-2. I think Vegeta is definitely going to be one of my mains, but I need to spend more time with the game before I can really say. As a Trunks fangirl, I want to main him, but I'm not having a whole lot of luck with him yet. (Also, is it just some unwritten rule about DBZ games that "Always make Heat Dome a bitch to actually hit anything with"?)

Loving it so far, probably gonna dive into the story mode for shits and giggles later tonight. I didn't want to play story mode earlier because until just a little while ago I was still stuck wearing my sunglasses just to sit at the computer. Damned eye exams, the dilation stuff always takes foreeeeever to wear off. x_x

EDIT TO ADD: Many hours later, finally started on story mode. Keeping in mind I went into it without any game story spoilers. I am presently in hysterics at the starting premise and the first set of dialogue choices. Like wow, we're just abandoning ANY sense of pretense and going full-blown self-insert power fantasy here.

EDIT #2: For the record, the premise for story mode is about 5x more hilarious for female players, just sayin'.

None of that "justice" or "justice dabbing" garbage that he's been spouting for the majority of the arc, but seriousness and abandonment of morals altogether. His power rose to such a monumental level that simply even touching him, were the tournament to allow killing/erasing, is a big no-no. Noted how his energy of destruction appeared to be more powerful than Sidra's, seeing that the latter's power failed to overwhelm Frieza, while Toppo's did. If it managed to even give Frieza a hard time, then I bet by the next episode No. 17 will be eliminated. 17 has limitless energy, sure, but he is literally facing a pissed-off God of Destruction candidate who was able to shatter the entire fighting stage with one attack.

It'll be hilarious to see if U7 won by having the following members in:

U7: Goku and Vegeta are still in (17 gets eliminated by Toppo).

U11: Jiren and Toppo are, just like Goku and Vegeta, still in.

Tie, right? Actually, when you watch the very ending of the episode you notice that Frieza was still in (though unconscious). What if they just kept him there for the rest of the arc and let him be the tie-breaker between the two universes?

Hooooly fuck. Frieza pushed... some kinda button there. Good lord, here I thought the fact Frieza contained and redirected Sidra's destruction energy was gonna be the Chekov's Gun in this fight, but wow was I wrong. Slimy bastard had his shit completely rekt back there, and yeah... I could easily see him being unconscious and out of it for the remaining five minutes of the tournament.

Although.... something else to remember. Goku tapped into Ultra Instinct after getting his shit completely wrecked by Jiren during the Spirit Bomb clash several episodes back, and we know Frieza seemed somewhat intrigued by what he saw. And Frieza just got his shit wrecked easily every bit as badly as that. I think I'll lay 50/50 odds on Frieza's unconscious the rest of the tournament and thus the tiebreaker or Frieza rallies stronger than ever in the final moments. Well... maybe 40/40/20 on those two options, with the 20% being Frieza regains consciousness enough to take a really cheap shot at somebody right at the end.

Overall, a really solid episode. That pincer attack with 17 and Frieza was beautifully staged, as was Toppo finally deciding he is entirely out of fucks to give. With the stage in shambles and rocks floating everywhere, the terrain for the remaining few minutes of the tournament is going to be a lot more interesting. I think 17 is for sure going out next week. Potentially Vegeta as well, but I really hope not.

I actually prefer the Funimation dub over the old voices, but the old dub still holds a.... ah. We'll call it "special" place for me. I mean, that was when I got hooked, and then suffered repeatedly through that goddamn loop where we'd get right up to Goku arriving on Namek, Vegeta shitting bricks about "OMG WTF HOW IS HE SO STRONG NOW OMG LEGENDARY SUPER SAIYAJIN MEBBE??".... and then the next day, the goddamn fucking Tree of Might, and then aaaaall the way back to the beginning of the series.

And really, it was an incredibly nice touch and nod to us oldie fans in the Super dub that Vegeta's duplicate in the one mini-arc was voiced by original dub Vegeta. Hearing Sabat's Vegeta and Drummond's Vegeta in the same episode was just priceless. XD
