CK3 has a way of just fucking with you when you do a real roleplay focused game..I really tried to make decisions based off the characters...

Started in 1178 as Richard Plantagenet, by about 1260 his pretty mediocre son and grandson had largely lost the Angevin lands in France save for Brittany and Normandy. Henry IV is a content, zealous, and patient scholar at heart. His eldest son, John? Not so much.

John is a brilliant strategist, ambitious, lustful, wrathful and diligent. He's got martial out the wazoo and isn't afraid to use it. Married to the only daughter of the French King, he somehow earns a small county in France and installs his wife, Margaret, to the French throne via faction demand.

Brilliant, I think. Henry IV is aging and this is a surefire way of getting some of France back with the dynamic John as King of England and King of France jure uxoris.

Well, Margaret's stats are shit and France devolves into constant rebellions that I have to swing in and bail them out of. This does not change when John becomes King of England in 1269 but goes from bad to worse when Margaret dies in 1271 and 10 year old Edmund becomes King of France. Well, King John is naturally going to protect his son and spends better part of the next decade in internal French wars trying to protect Edmund from being deposed, having his crown authority lowered or anything else. That is until he is murdered in 1278, making his younger Brother Henry as King.

Now, John had been able to keep his kids on the French throne because the res of the British isles were stable. But then in 1279 the Black Death hits, our Treasury is emptied and many of our troops die off during a three way war in France. Scotland and Ireland pounces, as does a domestic English liberty faction and a rival claimant faction. So John and his allies have to save his own hide and leave France fending for itself. Henry and his younger brother both die of plague in 1284, meaning it's now John's youngest son on the French throne, holding on by his finger nails, while John runs around England fighting four different wars.

John has - as you could expect - a stress induced heart attack aged just 49 just as Edward is tossed off the French throne.

And that's where I left it for now. Edward is King but facing down the barrel of multiple foreign wars (his betrothal to the daughter of the King of Aragon will help that out) and all but Brittany has been lost of the English lands in France.

For some reason, I love using cheats to conquer a bunch of land in Crusader Kings only to just let it all blow up Diadochi style. I don't know why I keep doing that

i like CK2 better i think is better game compared to ck3 i even i haven't played it seems to me that CK3 is more of game that eveyone can pick up and play but CK2 to me is more immersive compared to Ck3. I like the old game engine from 2012. the only i have anything againist it. is the extreme dlc model it came out with. i like how it is free to play. but the dlc's are so expensive if pay for all dlcs at one time but I like the modding scene for the Paradox games. there is some really good mods for all the paradox games. that's i find good about paradox games is the good modding scene. (espically Hoi4)

i like CK2 better i think is better game compared to ck3 i even i haven't played it seems to me that CK3 is more of game that eveyone can pick up and play but CK2 to me is more immersive compared to Ck3. Yeah, CK2 is what I play too. I was thinking about getting CK3, but I saw CK2 was free so I wanted to try it out. Safe to say, I got hooked and eventually got all DLC via subscription. And yeah, the fact CK2 had so many DLC's is insane. But at least they made it free along with the subscription. Can't really say the same for other Paradox games, aside from maybe EU4, but it's not free

hoi4 to my opinion is the proably less insane when it compared to ck2 or ck3. i have you got thing were boot up ck2 the first time go the what the hell i'm doing. i been playing the byzatine in the rise of islam mod i don't what actually happened. there was event that said Muhammed fighting you or something like that. then all my vassals then decide to spliter and fight Muhammed or something like that.
