I quite liked the Larp scene where he kind of half takes it seriously fighting off everyone that comes near him as he makes his way to the guy with the Ronin outfit. It was awkward as hell but hilarious

Yeah Hawkeye is probably going to be more grounded than the other 3 shows.

I know that was a really simple joke but it was hilarious and I loved it

As soon as they revealed he had a hearing aid I immediately went, "Oh yeah...this dude has been really close to a lot of things exploding including an entire building on top of him..." that quick montage was gold.

Tom Holland on No Way Home + synopsis from BBC

Now that Marvel's superheroes have saved the Universe, their next job is obvious: they have to save the multiverse. In the third of the Spider-Man blockbusters starring Tom Holland, the teenage web-spinner accidentally opens a portal to numerous parallel realities. The postmodern gimmick is that he finds himself up against Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, who fought the Tobey Maguire incarnation of Spider-Man, and Jamie Foxx's Electro, who fought the Andrew Garfield incarnation. And, who knows, he may even bump into Maguire and Garfield themselves. Sounds fun? Errr... well, apparently not. "What people will be really surprised about is that it's not fun, this film," Holland told Total Film. "It's dark and it's sad, and it's going to be really affecting. You're going to see characters that you love go through things that you would never wish for them to go through."

It'd be interesting to see but look at the trailers. I can see how the film could play out that way but it's being marketed very conventionally. Either the marketing team are useless incompetents that don't realise people really, really hate turning up to watch one film but getting another, or Holland's just trying to give people who haven't liked the rumours permission to watch the movie... a sort of "forget what you've heard, this film isn't Ralph Breaks the Internet or Ready Player One but with Spider-Men, it's Free Guy".

That, and it's a Christmas show and he promised his daughter he'll be home for Christmas. He's practically immortal now.

Getting killed by the Jumpsuit mafia would be a bummer after fighting Loki, Ultron and Thanos.

Opening day Spider-man tickets went fast. I remembered two hours late and am in the second row at 11:35 in the Dolby theater. I did Far From Home at 11:30 in Imax (better seats) and the showing almost didn't happen. Right as the usher was coming in to hand out passes the projectionist figured it out.

Episode was just a lot of fun. From the initial fight at the... playground? to the car chase to the bridge was real fun. Great to see a lot about Echo too.

CGI could have been worked on a bit more though. The purple putty stuff DID NOT look right. Even the purple smoke looked funky.

That said I hope Disney's treating its visual effects team well and not overworking them to the bone for this.

Episode three was great, im really liking this show so far.

Is Maya based on anyone from the comics? I imagine she is and i quite liked her in this episode. Seems like a decent villain so far.

The action this episode was great, especially the opening fight in the building they were being held in and the car chase was decent too.

My favourite thing in the series so far is the relationship between Kate and Clint. The two work very well together and i love the more touching moments they have with Hawkeye such as when he was on his phone and Kate was telling him what his son was saying.

Yes she is but knowing who won’t make it better. Someone will just tell you in a mo’ so I’ll let them do that. But she’s different enough that you might as well experience her fresh. Actually if you know you’ll have a pretty good idea how the story will go for her, so maybe avoid finding out. Up to you.

Also, if you know then the episode would have given you some serious Reed Richards/Kang/Tobey McGuire blue balls. The “uncle”could be a popular villain that already appeared but in a Marvel Entertainment thing not Marvel Studios. It probably isn’t but I still got a little excited.

Car chase needed more Mini Coopers. There were a lot of nods to a car chase with the Tracksuit Vampires (Draculas? Yes, Dracula’s. Mafia in the show.) Instead of white vans that make sense, it was vintage mini coopers. And Clint was in the muscle car. There he bought his building to prevent shady real estate Shit. Grills is his neighbor. Don’t think any of that is happening.

The writer of the series they’re pulling from is a consulting producer. I don’t know if they’ve been doing that the whole time or not, but kinda cool and accounts for how much of the vibe of his run has made it to the show.

Mustache fiancé is also a character from the comics, by now you pretty much know what his deal is.

Also haha the costume.

Kind of wonder if the big bad is
Valentina. Or someone working for or with her. Or if Black Widow is just going to be a complication, another thing that makes him sad.

Like I said, relatively faithful. Since there's only 4 issues of the character as a title character there's not a lot there. The changes that they did make were actually to add more story rather than take stuff out.

The ghost gets a name and a way more Jason Sudakis style personality, kind of prefer it to the weird stoic comic book ghost. Rather than the ghost being there for Hit Monkey's journey he's convinced that he needs Hit Monkey to finish his business. The arguments between Hit Monkey and Bryce (the ghost) are pretty fun, mostly because they don't subtitle HIt Monkey unless he's talking to other animals.

They also complicate the revenge story and add a bunch of characters. Instead of Bullseye it's Lady Bullseye because they're doing a whole...thing with that character that's different than Bullseye, but Bullseye was the main villain/foe in the comics. They also use a few other Japanese heroes and villains...meaning that the Hit Monkey cartoon had more Marvel characters in it than the original comic. Silver Samurai appears in the finale, Fat Cobra (one of the Immortal Weapons from the seven cities of heaven-one of which is K'un Lun, where the other Immortal Weapon hails from Iron Fist. Fat Cobra is the immortal weapon of Peng Lai. Yuki looks like the ninja Yuki and acts like the goddess Yuki, but this time protects Japan.

I mean, if you watched it you know that and if you didn't you probably didn't click the spoiler...ah well.

Non-spoiler stuff-but still a bit much to scroll by if you don't care.
THe faithful stuff was cool, the added stuff was an improvement. The animation style seems more western influenced by Japanese rather than Westerners just doing Japanese style art. I rather liked it. Crazy violent but also light. It's deep in Marvel but not even hinting at being in the MCU, it's very clearly in its own universe. Obviously. Even more-so than M.O.D.O.K.. I liked it overall. I got into Hit Monkey backwards because he was in the Howling Commandos series. I think it'd be cool if they do a second season that they eventually just work it into the Howling Commandos. There's no way they're saving that for the MCU. A team up between a Dum Dum Doogan clone, a zombie Hydra guy...gah, what's his name? Sitwell. Zombie Sitwell. Hit Monkey, Man Thing, Orggo (a big...thing...with glowing eyes), Teen Abomination, Manphibian...that ain't happening in the MCU. I dig that series but I think I'm the only one. I'm a sucker for Man Thing though.

Anyway. Going to be very much to taste. I wouldn't say required viewing but you know, if a mutant (implied) monkey that learns to be an assassin by the ghost of a hitman and gets involved in Japanese political intrigue via a lot of gruesome killing and quippy dialog sounds like something you'd enjoy, you'll probably enjoy it. If that sounds grating as hell it's not going to change your mind.

I binged the whole thing yesterday. It was a fun ride, though my Bryce tolerance pretty much wore out towards the end. That might not have been so bad if I hadn't watched it all in one go. I've never read Hit Monkey comics, and kept forgetting that it was a Marvel show, and then Silver Samurai cameo!

I was really impressed that they had the chutzpah to do a deep character development episode entirely in subtitled monkey noises. (Okay, half an episode. Bryce got his half in unsubtitled human noises.)

I absolutely loved Hit-Monkey! It was basically Archer meets Marvel. Bryce is obviously Archer. Occasionally having to remind people that the monkey is a damn monkey was pretty hilarious, lol.

Yes, she is. Maya Lopez. Echo. The original Ronin. As far as can be told, they're basically just adapting her original appearances, i.e. her origin story. And unlike some origin stories, it's really not particularly significant to the character... she's not haunted by an Uncle Ben or the dystopian future she was born in, or anything. She showed up in some Daredevils, was forgotten about for a bit, was used as a twist reveal with Ronin, joined up with Moon Knight, was killed by Count Nefaria, was dead for years, got resurrected (somehow) and became the Phoenix (which is now a Avengers "character" in the comics... which now that I think about it, might mean we get an Avengers Phoenix storyline but hopefully they've learnt from the NuHumans not to do shit like that).

In terms of her deal... she's a deaf Taskmaster, basically.

As to that origin story for comics Maya, I'll put that in a second spoiler...

I don't care about it and so don't bother remembering the details. The relevant part is Daredevil and Kingpin and she was an antagonist for a bit but became a good idea. Basically, MCU Ghost. But the important thing is KINGPIN.

I think "Uncle" won't be significant to the resolution of this story simply because they're making an Echo show. But that chuckle definitely reminded me of D'ONofrio.

I think this storyline is going to focus on Swordsman (thanks Mr Sunday Movies, that was not a character I bothered remembering) for Kate's part and the fallout of being Ronin for Clint. Valentina and/or Yelena may just be agents of publicising Clint is Ronin a la Mysterio and Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Compare ATLA's first book where you had Zuko and Zhao, who kind of became a single character to represent Zuko's loss of control over the situation as Zuko's relationship with the Avatar became more complicated. So Kazi or the guy who got shot with the USB will probably become Zhao. Or it's a Winter Soldier thing and Echo remains fixated right up to the end.

That being said, Valentina's a good way of explaining the relevance of the Avengers tech. So, the missing pieces here would be why the Broskis were after the watch and what Armand III was doing.

tl;dr MCU dads are evil so Derrick's coming back
