The Every so HAPPY Cuties have evolved- they know live much longer (venerable) thanks to a mysterious blue mutagen that has fully enhanced the species.

They are now due to event Charismatic, Communal, Venerable, and with a Gaia Preference (said preference unfortunately makes it so that we must strive to achieve the World Shaper Accention Perk if we hope to colonize none Gaia worlds- and Gaia worlds are exceptionally rare).

... I've got Ancient Caretakers to the east- Slavers to the west, isolationists to the north- and a decadent hierarchy of authoritarian xenophiles who thus far seem to be our only friend because they find us so very cute (and I think want to pamper us as pets but for the moment it's better then the treatment I could expect from the Slaving Despots).

In short- three of my neighbors want to hold us and the two northern ones don't want anything to do with us (yet).

Also- got the golden disk event which should if I'm correct lead us to Earth- but they are on the other side of the galaxy so it'll be a long time before we find them.

Okay, I'm fucking calling it, the EUIV AI is in the worst state I've ever seen. It is actually atrocious. I'm done with this British game at least, if not the entire game for a good while. Maybe a good time to come back would be when I stop seeing Tunisia in Ceylon, Austria deciding that half of its army should prioritize India, for some dumbass reason, and Jaunpur trying to save his homeland rather going to snipe a meaningless province halfway across the continent. And those screenshots are just the tip of the iceberg in terms the amount of bullshit that happened in that one war alone. One quarter of the Ottoman army spent its time trying to take my land in India (and failing because I was defending it well), one quarter was sieging down my totally irrelevant provinces in the Ivory Coast node (which lasted for nearly the entire war), leaving only half of their army to deal with overwhelming force coming through the main Balkan invasion corridor. The Ottomans and their allies had an intimidating force in their own right and they completely and utterly squandered it.

All I want to see an AI that throws everything into the defense of the war goal and their own nation. No more fucking around going to backwater nonsense that doesn't matter. In this war's case, It needed to stop Austria and I from sieging THEIR LAND at ALL COSTS. It's really that fucking simple. It is absolutely unbelievable how far out of the way the AI goes to act against its own self-interest and/or tunnel vision into blatant anti-player nonsense.

I can't stick up for this game anymore. I've firmly stuck up for the game previously because of course the AI is going to have its flaws. The game is enormously complex, it's been completely understandable up until recently. But it's too much now. The flaws are too glaring and seriously affecting the credibility of the time period. It's not fun anymore. The worst part about the situation is that it used to be in a pretty solid spot, like, maybe as recently as a year ago. Notably, when the AI programmer known as Gnivom left PDS and DDRJake became the Game Director. I continue to wonder if there's a correlation there . . .
