They truly are a smart race, extremely adept at infiltration. The Inquisition keeping their existence hidden from the rest of the Imperium probably is to their advantage.

Shit, maybe they've infiltrated the inquisition and that's why they keep them a secret. Never mind the Tau, the Alpha Legion and Slaugth should have a battle of wits and cunning some time.

This makes perfect sense. You got to get them into the universe while they're still young, it's a valid marketing tactic.

Yeah, but you know those books are gonna be toned down as all Hell. That is not good preparation for getting into 40K.

What brought me into 40k was how edgy it was. It's getting rid of that attraction to bring in kids who are going to get shell-shocked if they read any of the other books or play any games on it.

Things often get toned down immensely. There used to be a BattleTech animated series in the nineties, and that universe has a history where a few hundred billions of people perished during the first two Succession Wars. Not that this was ever mentioned in the cartoon, of course.

Nothing you can do about it, for I am pretty sure that the exciting Warhammer Adventures are already canon as fuck.

I like the idea of more "kid friendly" warhammer stuff and it's far from the first time they done stuff like that see the troll games, space fleet, that marine scout game, the MB games)(space crusade, hero quest and battlemasters) and arguably bloodbowl.

I just don't like the fact that they are playing into the modern kids stories stereo types of plucky kids who solve all the problems and sort out big threats by non violent means.

Now there is definitely scope for stories involving kids in the warhammer universes and naturally anything 40k has to feature marines but they should really be the distant gods of war and somewhat peripheral to any story.
Maybe if they do sometching like the kids come across some traitors and heretics and after some hair raising events escape and let the authorities know.

But maybe I'm just too old fashioned.

40k books for grade schoolers. I'm gonna support this because it sounds hilarious. How do you introduce Tyranids or chaos space marines without the disturbing shit especially Slaanesh and the Dark Eldar in general. Orks I can see making good antagonist for those books just play up the comedic parts of their lore. Will they still have the intro thats infront of all the other books? This just sounds really funny after reading stuff like Dead Men Walking.

One of the first bits of 40k fiction I read was about ragnar bkackmane and the space wolves drop plodding into a bunch of tyranids and climaxed in ragnar force feeding a carnifex a bunch of grenades.
It certainly left an impression...

I like to imagine that the kid is currently reading a very detailed and very graphic story about the Chaos defilement of a civilian world. It features an unhappy Chaos Lord who simply doesn't get the same satisfaction he used to from mass-murdering and sacrificing millions of innocent souls, because he slowly realizes that, deep inside, apart from all the bloody slaughter, mind-bending torture and cosmic insanity, what he is truly craving for is...a friend.

Those Armiger mini-knights came out and I decided they were perfect for my Celt-themed knight house, so I rewrote their lore and came up with a bunch of army list plans for them, with only one or two full knights and the rest being Armigers, a fast moving army without much focus on ranged weaponry.

Now with the mini-warlord Dominatus knights coming out I'm struggling to not rewrite everything again...

Verak the Bloodied Hand of Carra, and Herald of the Skull Throne loves to kill servants of the Corpse Emperor.

But what he would really love, is to sit down and have a nice cold cider with a friend.

But he has no one to do that with.

And that makes Verak sad.
