The romantic period is my favourite era of classical music (not to be confused with the classical period). I also like impressionism, but I'm not quite sure where that fits.

I would call Impressionism a movement within the romantic era. While most program pieces around the 1800's sought to describe a particular thing, such as a place, person, or event, the impressionist movement sought to convey the feelings and emotions behind it. This was especially true with composers like Debussy.

Oh finally!

I play the bagpipes, the cello, the piano, and the double bass.

I've done a little writing, a theme or a melody every once and a while (once an Allegro in the key of C#+ *shudders*.)

So in short: impressionism takes romanticism to a whole new level! :D

I've written a couple of rags. Nothing too serious.

I listen to orchestral mostly, I most like symphonic orchestras. Also solo piano a lot. Occasionally a little choir.

I listen to anywhere from medieval onward to modern day. I am very passionate about music history.

Hi
I'm not a musician or composer, but I wish to play the piano someday. It seems classic and cool for me. I used to have a music class at grade 10, and I make a band with some of my classmates as part of the school assignment. Because I can't play any instruments available like recorder, keyboard, etc., I become a vocalist together with a girl from my class. But after we become grade 11 students, it seems that the band thing is abandoned :p
Currently I'm part of the school choir, from the bass part.

Drummer.

I drum good.

I dont have a video or recording, but I might make one just so I can brag here on NS.

I play a lot of rock and roll, and jazz.

I also play guitar, bass, and I can sing fairly well, but my main focus is the drum's. If you want to talk about music, I can tell you all about Punk Rock and Hip Hop, and a little of Alt Country.

Anyone ever realise how weird we all must seem to non musicians while talking about music?

Just imagine being someone who doesn't know anything about music, and you pass by a couple of busker's and hear one of them say to the other, "Yeah, lets try and go for a 3/4 time, and make sure the guitar twangs and put a lot of skank on the bass. That's what all the cool cat's are doing these days."

They would probably think we were all on drugs. (But, not all of us are Kieth Richards.)

Nah, that's nothing like trying to get the gliss at the coda in the 'bones, it goes up a tenth all the way into treble.

At least it's better than going into tenor clef, nobody learns to read that these days.

It's just the alto clef with the symbol on a different place, though.

I have to read the c-clef for 'cello. It's not that difficult.

I love it. We played an arrangement of it for part of our show in marching band junior year and it was a blast. It's what got me interested in brass band music -- I ended up doing one of the community's youth brass bands my senior year because of it.

I personally prefer a dominant brass section in a whole symphonic orchestra for the variety in sound, but I do love the all-brass ensemble. Out of curiosity, do you have a favourite brass instrument?
