Some people like and share their musical tastes with their parents, and plenty of people say they were introduced into rock and metal by their parents. But some people don't, and grow up to like different genres and have different tastes to their parents, and that's fine.
I did use to watch TV, but only when I was very young. I discovered Interstella 5555 through Daft Punk's Discovery, not the other way around, and I found it entirely online at the time (although I had the album on CD before that).
I listen to my current music because of my parents, but for the exact opposite reason: They listened to rock, the radio was all rock (because of their choice to play it), the rest of the family was all into rock, and a large part of people outside of my family. I've always been a hipster kind of guy, so I disliked the genre the more I heard it - for all the wrong reasons.
And so I looked for something else. And now it's hard for me to get back into rock because I've associated it with all that negativity from before. But maybe I'm just not into it and that's that.

Ah thanks for the explanation. Some of us share at least part of our musical tastes with our parents, and some of us don't. Either way is fine by me. Do you like parody songs, like Weird Al or The Lonely Island? Or Nerdcore artists like Chameleon Circuit or Ken Ashcorp? I do. Even if they're in musical genres you don't normally like, I thought you might like them for the humorous content and references.

I guess that's ok. Everyone is different and has different perspectives and opinions, after all.Rikatan wrote:Tokuopolis wrote:Ah thanks for the explanation. I've heard of Al and Ken Ashcorp but I haven't listened to much from them. I dislike lyrics a whole lot in music, with some exceptions.

If you're British, who do you think should represent the UK in the 2016 eurovision? I really hope it's Zombina and Skeletones, they're an English/British band. If you live elsewhere in Europe, or watch Eurovision regularly even though you live elsewhere, I'd like to hear your voice too. Who would you like to represent your country, or who would you like to see represent the other countries of Eurovision? Maybe I'll have a go at the worldvision in this game...

Turkey should rejoin Eurovision.

Eurovision, contrary to popular belief, never intended to be only European, and instead limited itself to the European Broadcasting Union all along. Morocco, along with every country that ever competed (besides Australia), is a part of the EBU.

What I don't get is why is Morocco in the EBU?

All that remains is to show that biological systems replicate in such a way as to satisfy the minimal criteria required for evolution to apply to them, something which has already been adequately shown time and again. At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

Including this one? It would be cool if every country in the world joined in (except probably the PRK (AKA North Korea) due to their limited contact with the outside world) I think there might be too many if every country in the world was in it. I've got a solution for that though. There'd be one for each continent and the winners of each would face off in the finals.
