I have never seen the Mods abusing their power, nor would I accuse any of the Mods I know of of abuse of power unless there was some evidence or I thought it seemed like something they would do (And none come to mind that would abuse their power). I think it would help if the OP gave an actual example or account of a Mod abusing their power.

Links, examples, evidence please.

Additionally, the uniform set of rules we use in making moderation decisions are here.

The plural of 'asshat' is 'asshats', not 'asshat's'. :p

The actions of asshats is known as asshatery and the medical term is Crainal Rectal Insertion (CRI)

Every web forum you go to, someone thinks the mods are out to get them or the man is keeping them down. It's pretty pathetic.

If the mods were abusing their power, they would've deleted your post, and permabanned you faster than you could say OH SHIT.

If the mods were actually abusing their power, they would've deleted your post, and permabanned you already okay?

It's odd how I only ever get warnings (that stick) when I break the rules. Obviously the mods love me so much because I'm a random internet person none of them have ever met.

Actually, TBR, from what I know of you I would cheerfully trust you with my life. Perhaps New High Charity, too, if I knew them better.

My vote, now, that's another matter entirely. :D

Person012345, we've explained this before, you have to keep up the payments! It's not just a once-off, unnerstand?

Anyone get the feeling I'm not taking this thread seriously? If the OP wants it taken seriously, he'll have to come up with the goods, as Kat and Rep have said. I'm reluctantly leaving the thread open to give him more time, but it's the stinking hot, muggy, stormy season in my part of the world, so don't expect too much patience on my part.

If it's all too private to discuss publicly -- though I'd prefer you did, I don't think genuine mod misdeeds should be escorted offstage -- then shoot us a GHR and let me put this thread out of its painful existence right now.

They love me because of my obvious Nazism and my questionable taste in flags. Nothing like a badly drawn bright pink swastika to make the right first impression...

No. Perfect? No. They make mistakes. But abusing their power? No.

As long as we are being grammatically correct, it would be "are known."

I think the belief that mods abuse their power stems from the idea that how the OSRS is interpreted can be on a case by case basis. Sometimes. There isn't very thin line between what's right and what's not. But a line can be in different spots for different people, and if the boot fits for the moderators and Max, they gotta wear it and do some ass kicking with it. Whether everyone is in full agreement or not.

This is simply utter nonsense. In the time I've been here, I have seen moderators:
  • Repeatedly use condescending and unprofessional language, even when dealing with people who may have slipped up but obviously meant well
  • Issue warnings to people for doing exactly what they told those people to do, and then completely ignore them when that is pointed out
  • Give justifications for warnings that not only ignore, but outright falsify the easily-observable facts of what actually happened

Rules are pretty strict here compared to similar sized forums I've been too. Having a moderation forum for player tattletaleing doesn't really help matters. Also did I mention how humorless they are with their rulings?

Incredibly ironic that you had to use a puppet to state this. Just sayin'.

This post is just crazy bro!!!

Definition of A moderator from each class of players perspective:

newbie: A moderator is that evil person who keeps taking down my nazi Germany posts in international incidents.
or
A moderator is that guy who keeps taking down my timegate posts.

Good Player:The Moderators are people who patrol over the website, they usually do a good job but i keep getting banned for spamming

Smart Player: If newbies read the stickies, they wouldn't be posting that stuff there.

Point is that you should familiarize your self with the website rules before posting. The moderators aren't like the KGB, silencing people and stuff. They are a key part of the game.

Maybe, sometimes...

But mods have enough jerks and crap to deal with and sort out... This is just unfair to them, considering the fact OP just brought it the fuck out of nowhere.

The Mods control the fates of all of NS, if they see it fit along the strings of time to cut one to save another, I do not complain.

That is to say, I don't think the mods abuse their power ever, they make mistakes I'm certain, I'm sure they would cop to a few themselves, but I do not think they are corrupt, no sir. So long as you are polite and respectful, there is never a reason to fear their modly powers.
