So why (outside of the pretitles) is it actually a problem this time around but not then. Giant double standard. If you wanna talk about why it's not kosher to use VOM for non-mod duties, then talk about it in general. It's weird to make this argument by singling out and driving so hard into the Raid context of this. Either they are allowed, or not allowed to chat with players using VOM. Point blank. Personally I'm in favour of just, chilling out a bit and letting the mods have some fun on occasion? I don't see the real actual harm done by this.

I have no problem with moderators/admins being involved in R/D on either side of the spectrum, but I do have a problem with them doing so from the Voice of Mod account, which should really only be used for actual moderator business.

Nova Vinelandia wrote:I can see the argument for why the giving out of custom pretitles should not have happened (though again to note it wasn't preferential per se they just handed it out to whoever asked) but the idea that in this case it's specifically inappropriate because it was tangentially related to R/D (as in, it happened in a region under occupation) is ridiculous, and the arguments about "fairness to the natives" is silly, esp when, as Ambis said, plenty of natives got in on the banter. I'm not saying we shouldn't, where did I say we shouldn't.
I was saying it's not an abnormality. Simple.

It is hard enough to watch something you've put time and energy into building being burned down by a bunch of people who only want to laugh at the pain you're experiencing, but seeing the official moderation account join in on it is something else altogether.

This is a weird as hell way to talk about utilising an intended game mechanic to play the game as was designed and desired by the admins. No one should be feeling that distressed over a video game, especially one they opted in to by being a frontier in the first place. And this perspective comes from someone who's had regions I care about raided. I don't appreciate the brush you're painting me with here.

The fact that people get attached to things they shouldn't is a well established psychological phenomenon, and has been observed for forever. From pet rocks, to neopets, to tamogotchi, to roombas... people will get attached to anything that they can have good memories, or bad memories, with. It's why some people have 'lucky charms', or others have particular rituals before they do things.
I also understand that you don't like being confronted with the reality that your actions have consequences and effects on other people, but they do. I'm not trying to stop you from doing those things, I just don't think that an official staff account should also be doing them.

I don't think speaking on the RMB of a raided region constitutes raiding lmao

Nope, and I have not claimed that it does. Your strawman can go in the pile. I also have no problem with Voice of Mod speaking on the RMB of aa raided region, provided it's doing official staff business. The Official Staff Account should only be used for Official Staff Business, the laughing and joking around can happen on the personal accounts of staff members.

at this point we're arguing on how to fold table napkins for an event. In the end it really doesn't matter.

As for the natives disliking it, come on. They know how to use the forums. If they didn't like it, they would've complained.
