[D] Spamming Moderation

The user is specifically complaining about a rule, namely spamming moderation. The topic stems from here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=535305

So the thread I linked where said user was complaining how a moderator was warning/forumbanning user and their friends for spamming moderation is entirely not relevant? The user in question didn't post this thread because they had started a thread about moderator conduct (though I personally perceive their argument to be frivolous or at a bare minimum extremely uninformed) get locked?

If you mean this thread, I locked that thread because accusations of Moderator abuse go through the GHR to be resolved by an Admin.

Neut let New Texas Republic know that so there was no reason to keep the thread open. No warnings were handed out for that thread.

Even freedom of speech doesn't mean that you can express yourself in any way in every venue. A report thread is more of a support ticket than a discussion thread to my understanding.

Just because it is a forum thread does not mean it is open to discussion, nor should it be.

Alright. I’m back guys.

After reading all of your opinions about this conflict, I have came to the conclusion that a report thread is not a good place to discuss about one’s opinions about a report. Not only is it annoying, it is also time-wasting and unneeded. I think instead that one should make discussion threads when it comes to these occasions.

Not exactly. The "Spamming Moderation" rule applies to all content in the Moderation subforum which counts as spam. In the case of REPORT threads, this includes all information that isn't the report, defense, or addition of pertinent facts. DISCUSSION threads are for discussing general moderator policy, so "this is not spam" describes a much wider web of content. APPEAL threads have a procedure similar to report threads(although Final Appeals and any appeals related to Moderator abuses of power MUST be submitted via GHR).

I think this is cruel and injust, and I just wanted to share my thoughts on this rule.

NS has rules about spam and relevancy in other subforums (no advertising in F&NI, no GA legislating in NSG, etc. ) since each forum - and each thread - has a purpose. REPORT threads are more comparable to a bug ticket than to a discussion topic, despite both being hosted as threads on the NS forums.

Have you read many of the report threads in the Moderation forum? If not, check out a few and note the posts that get warned for spamming. Players weighing in with opinions in reporting threads typically muddy the issue. Like others have said here, discussions are welcome in this forum, just not in reports. The rule makes sense to me.

It’s like a trial. When I state my case, I wouldn’t want some random person to tell me what they think of my case. I’m there to present it to the judge.
