[Q] Why was the Feminism Megathread Reposted?

Postby Forsher » Wed Sep 21, 2022 6:42 pm

(1) the old thread had a poll with the consensus result being to retire it

(2) the thread is so inactive, it's been locked for gravedigging at least once and had it not been subsequently (and unjustly) re-opened would have been locked multiple times for gravedigging subsequently were it not given a get out of jail free card on this count (e.g. page 498 goes from 1 July to 4 August and then again from 7 August to 20 September)

(3) the OP, no offence to Farn, is inherently all over the place... it's a catchall thread that just exists as a black hole to consume posts that have tenuous connections to Feminism in the first place, thus removing them from what's become a fairly dead board in need of the extremely infrequent bursts of activity an intermittent thread might provide

(4) based off experience, and this goes to point (3) too, most of the people who use the thread aren't actually feminists

Back in the dark days, you'd get feminism/t related threads that would hit 20-40 pages in a few days and then a week or two later another would do the same thing. I can kind of get why you'd want to declutter the forum from the same talking points. But right now, the forum needs clutter... posts... 2012 was ten years ago, what is the value add of this specific thread in this specific moment in NSG's lifecycle?

That it Could be What it Is, Is What it Is

Stop making shit up, though. Links, or it's a God-damn lie and you know it.

We won't know until 2053 when it'll be really obvious what he should've done. [...] We have no option but to guess.
