Regarding Regions & Nations Glorifying Nazi Ideology

Out of curiosity, how large were those regions?

Easily 150 if not more of the regions cleared were just single-nation trophies. Type of region where somebody (in this case, primarily NSleft/Red Fleet/MT Army/Antifa/etc) founded/refounded it, locked it, and kept the founder puppet in the region and logged in once a month to maintain it. Only a tiny handful had more than that.

Makes sense, as I doubt Nazis were ever a force to be reckoned with on this site. Most of the Nazis who come here are probably summer trolls who either leave after a certain amount of time or get booted from the site entirely. Saiwania is the only Nazi that was able to stay on the forum for any significant length of time.

Funny enough, plenty of players have manages to roleplay evil, even fascist nations without resorting to carbon-copying Nazi Germany. Pretty sure the RP crowd will weather this just fine.

A good policy, which just seems to cement the pre-existing policy against glorifying violence against RL people.

It's unfortunate for the raiders who lost their trophy regions, and for any innocent nations who got caught up (rest well, Nazi Flower Power), but I still think it will make the site a better place (with fewer enclaves of harmful sentiment) overall.

For anyone that needs to read this: an argument like this tends to pop up every time the bad actors among us are "censored" and no longer allowed to openly air their vile beliefs. It can be tempting to agree with it, to wonder if your ideals aren't actually righteous if they can't hold up in the court of public opinion over and over again.

Don't buy into it. The targets of Nazism should not have to justify their own existence time and time again in the public space. This is a solved issue in our society, and we should treat it like such. Nazis do not belong anywhere in a just world, so we should not tolerate them on this website. That's it. There's nothing more that needs to be said. Their disgusting ideology does not become any less wrong because their believers are loud and visible.

I'm glad Max Barry and whoever else calls the shots from above have made this decision, and I hope that we can see more rulings in this direction in the future. Nazis do not belong on this website full of young and impressionable players who for years have been charmed by these malevolent actors.

I completely support this decision and thank the mods for taking this step towards making the NS community safer for people who are commonly targets of fascist ideology. There's a difference between "censoring free speech" and protecting groups from violence, nuance is needed in these discussions & this was the right move.
