[Answered] Would these actions constitute ban evasion?

Postby Apiary One » Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:01 pm

According to the OSRS, using a puppet account to evade a forumban results in instant DEAT for both the puppet and the originally banned account. I would like to know, however, if 'posting past ban' only applies to creating forum posts, or to any/all forum activity on a puppet such as:

1. Browsing the forums while logged in;
2. Adjusting settings (e.g. time zone) in the User Control Panel;
3. Editing drafts in the sandbox;
4. Editing one's signature;
5. Editing an existing forum post to change or remove text;
6. Editing an existing forum post to add new text.

I am not banned; I am just curious if the above actions, while not technically 'posting', would fall under ban evasion. Thank you.

If you're banned you're not able to do that stuff, that's what a ban is.

I'm having trouble seeing your "need to know". If you're forumbanned, you're aware of the limitations. If you're not, why the curiosity? Are you planning on getting banned anytime soon?

On 1 and 2, I'm not even sure those actions are possible, as I believe the only way for a banned player to see the forums is via another nation or while logged off.
If you can't log in, then editing drafts (if that's what you mean by 3 - Sandbox) won't be possible.
Also, 4 is almost certainly ban evasion when the player is continuing or providing content to any ongoing forum discussions. Ditto the "it's probably not possible" reasons as well.

Thank you, this answers my question.

So that if I stumble upon such conduct -- i.e. ABC is serving a forumban; XYZ is ABC's known puppet; XYZ edits their post while ABC is still banned -- I know whether to report it or not.
