He might run a secret nation, I remember an old Q&A where he's said that but I don't know if that still holds true. Nevertheless, as the owner, he has to at least be somewhat aware and involved. I'm pretty sure that the admin group reports directly to Max, but obviously \notamod, so.

It is a rhetorical question. It is not a megathread so the whataboutism is misplaced, and it is discussing food. So it does not qualify for discussion under the first criteria, and meets the standard for all threads of being on topic and has not, as far as I have seen, been threadjacked into a not-food-topic.

If I created a car thread (there already is, just an example) and you created a thread about Chrysler, and it got merged into the car thread, would you call it a megathread? What does that even mean? Are you under the impression that people were coordinating massive rule breaking spree's? If that is what you are implying, than I can assure you that you're quite mistaken. People opposing poor decisions made by mods is not the same as some active on site rebellion.

And that isn't a shit post. I'm honestly surprised the mods decided to do this while there are actually protests and riots around the world about what is seen as over enthusiastic policing. Not saying the mods are killing people, but they must have realised there would be a....fucking furious response right now. People stuck at home, seeing the protests, no real outlet, let's give them one. Bad idea in my opinion. The locks could have waited a little while.

Both the trans thread and the gun control megathread are little more than chat places nowadays.

I won't speak for the gun thread, but that is specifically not the case with the trans thread. We actually stick to topic far more often than not. That you think otherwise is an indication that you're judging a thread you don't even participate in.

Both should be removed and replaced by smaller threads that come and go as topics arise if that's what moderation is shooting for.

That would be a detriment, specifically for the trans thread, because more often than not, whenever trans topics come up, people necessarily get caught up in the minutae of various aspects of the trans experience. Say someone makes a thread about a transgender person getting discriminated against at a store. Within 10 pages (likely before page 5, even), it will have devolved into several separate debates about whether or not more than 2 genders exist, whether children can actually be trans, whether or not trans people can pee in public bathrooms, etc. And copypaste that same scenario if a week later, someone posts a thread about a different trans-related topic. You then have 2 of basically the same discussions, just repeating themselves.

That's why we need the trans megathread.

As far as I know, Testlandia isn't particularly controlled by any one player as it's simply a nation account used by the admins to test stuff like features, and make sure things are running appropriately. Although I don't think Testlandia is Max's main nation account, he does have access to it has proven by this photo:

I'm positive Max can be warned since no one is above the rules, however seeing as though he's the creator and owner of the site, neither the mods nor admin can actually ban or DOS him

And I can also believe that the mods locked the LWDT to avoid accusations of bias, even though the LWDT was adhering to the rules (I honestly can't fault them for it, either, given the incessant hooting and hollering that would've resulted from the core of the RWDT, who even now, can't accept they have a toxic rulebreaking clique).

1. The RWDT had a core base that was more toxic than other megathreads. There were some very good people in there, to be sure. But a lot of them weren't, and they outweighed the good ones.

2. The RWDT's core base, both toxic and non-toxic, was very cliquey.

3. When a RWDT regular (most often, one of the toxic ones) broke the rules (lets face it, toxic people break rules more often than non-toxic ones), the rest of them circled the wagons to defend one of their own, rather than concede that maybe the person in question was actually at fault.

I see the problem, yeah. I would like the system to make the reporting user visible to the mods, but not the userbase. I'm not sure if there's a way to enable that in the current forum software; perhaps an update would help?

Just as a note and in no way speaking to the feasibility or likelihood of introduction of anything that requires a technical update: such a process could/would be onerous and even if we (specifically, admin, not just moderators) decided such an update was absolutely the best idea and needs to be queued does not mean that you would see it in a timely fashion.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I want to manage expectations.
