So, basically, the complaint is that topics you're not interested in continue to be discussed. In a contained manner, so there aren't MULTIPLE threads on that same topic you don't want to be discussed.

(Sorry for the mess earlier. It appears I edited, rather than quoted the post. I've restored the original.)

I don't recall writing that at all.

I am very surprised the Moderators allowed this thread on the Moderators Forum, I believe all my fellow nations threads and polls have their own unique value even on related threads.

I wish we could go back to the good old days on NS when we could create Public Polls on our threads, perhaps if we pray to the Mod Gods and our Almighty Goddess Violet, at times it is needed and would reduce potential vote fraud on the Polls. Many fellow nations vote and don't post, so I would like to know which fellow nations posted and voted the way they did on any issues.

For what it's worth, I have noticed the growth in megathreads over the last 5-10 years. It's hard to pin down precisely when the phenomenon became really noticeable, but I think the transmutation of the 2010 UK election thread into an ongoing British politics thread was an early marker.

I do think the megathreads serve a useful purpose. I doubt anyone wants multiple threads starting up to discuss every individual tweet of the president of the United States. That would serve no useful purpose. The megathreads are going to stay.

However, I'm open to the possibility that we're sometimes a little too quick to merge or shut down threads that might be related to an NSG megathread topic, but which can usefully still be discussed in a separate thread. It's likely that this will always be a subjective judgement, but perspectives from people engaging in debate can be useful. I welcome further constructive discussion and suggestions on that point - noting that I'm speaking for myself here, and not for the Moderation team.

Don't read anything into that last sentence, by the way; it doesn't subtly indicate some form of disagreement, it only acknowledges that I haven't discussed the point with other members of the team.

Can we ask the Moderators permission to start a certain thread on any related Mega Thread issues if we present our OP Page on a dispatch?

Kind of like Ebola, you get the outbreak quarantined, and she always pops right back up.

Darn it

Overall I am fine with the outline of this approach.

Why do you want the OP to be in a dispatch?

I'm guessing that it would be in a dispatch so that moderators could review the content of the OP before it's posted on the forums.

That sounds like a good way to grind forum traffic to a halt.

Correct

While I don't think the Moderators would allow my request, it would be on a dispatch so that the moderators could review the content of the OP before it's posted on the forums, and it would not be posted directly on their Moderator forum page and thread, if they say no I can easily delete the dispatch and I would not be technically breaking any forum rules by posting an OP anywhere on the forums, which they don't allow for any reasons.

Just make a thread in Moderation and show us what you mean. All this tap-dancing is silly.

Ok Farnhamia, I was just trying to give him credit for a good post.

Thank You.
